i recently got overcharged by sainsburys by a fair bit, not unheard of by the way. Do you make a fuss when something is not quite right, as i remember the day when we didn't, but put up with it. Your thoughts or experiences where you got goods, money back..

Occasionally, not always depends on the amount, one such time was two years ago at Christmas, me, my daughter and a friend save £10 a week from October to spend on all things Christmas food and drinks wise at M&S , on such time the bill was £184 and we felt the usually lovely Turkey crown wasn’t as nice and was rather small, I emailed them to ask had they changed...

I never make a fuss but if there is something wrong I always say something. I've found that if one is quiet and pleasant and firm people are helpful.
I would never complain or go back to a shop when I was younger but I seem to have more confidence as I've grown older and will complain about anything and everything. I recently sent for 6 summer skirts from a catalogue because they were half price. When they arrived, 3 were the size I ordered and 3 were the next size up, so I phoned to complain and was told they would refund the cost of the 3 skirts as they no longer had them in my size so couldn't replace them and I didn't have to return them.I gave them to a friend who takes that size.
I don't always make a fuss but I sometimes will.

For example, when I started to receive my State Pension instead of Pension Credit, I wrote to the Council Tax department of my local council, advising them of the increase in my income. (I did so because up until then I'd been getting a 100% reduction in my Council Tax). I heard nothing from them until the end of the tax year, when they suddenly demanded a full year's Council Tax from me in a single payment (with no option to pay in instalments). Although I was happy to pay my Council Tax I thought that suddenly presenting me with a ruddy big bill (many months after they should have offered me the chance to pay in instalments) was unfair, so I complained to my local councillor. She managed to get the council to write off a full year's Council tax for me! ;-)
I bought some makeup on eBay by a brand I’d been using for years. This one’s colour didn’t look right so I asked the guy if it was fake. He refunded me immediately and told me not to bother sending the makeup back.
I complain if something is wrong but I like to compliment people as well. Credit where credit's due - people are very quick to complain but not so quick to show their appreciation of good service.
237SJ I wrote to Sainsbury's to congratulate them on their decision to stop selling fireworks. I received an automated reply straight away, but that was it, they didn't reply to my compliment.
^That's probably because you complimented the company. I regularly receive customer compliments as they are more specific.
It's a pity that complaining about a genuine wrong
Whoops don't know what happened there. I just wanted to say that " making a fuss " isn't the same as complaining. I've found that - if I dare say it - Europeans are far more matter of fact about saying if something is wrong than we are.
And Americans are far more adept at complaining than Europeans
