Just read that the staff at a Nandos in Glasgow are opening on Dec 25 to feed homeless people and are collecting clothes, toiletries etc for gifts. The same article said all the big store Xmas adverts were airing next week. Would it not be worthwhile if these big stores cut their advertising budgets and instead donated to those charities that make a difference for others at Christmas
Nandos has their heart in the right place in this case, but stores like Debenhams are struggling and will need their budgets for advertising if they aren't to fold. losing more jobs in the retail sector isn't a good thing.
maggie lots of people care on AB, as they do in the outside, that is why they give money, time, clothing goods to charities, its why we all or many buy poppies or donate to Children in Need, millions are raised.
The cynic in me might say Nandos are doing that as part of their own advertising campaign. Without doubt some parents do waste their child benefit and without doubt some homeless people aren't homeless at all but the biggest without doubt is most of the population do care and donate to charity in their own way, including big businesses and highly paid celebrities. Just not all shout about it.
maggiebee, some people go to great lengths to broadcast their efforts to help others. You have no idea what the rest do in their private lives and you're wrong to assume you do.
It is possible to customize almost every gift today, and all it takes is a little effort. Receiving something that becomes memory over some time and what better way to do it than adding a touch of personalization always feels beautiful. It's not just the personalized gifts that count, but also all the extra creativity we put in while delivering it that adds the attraction.
