When Jesus Christ was on earth, he gave his listeners a lesson in observing signs and acting accordingly. He was talking about something of far-reaching importance. The Bible reports: “The Pharisees and Sadducees approached him and, to tempt him, they asked him to display to them a sign from heaven. In reply he said to them: ‘When evening falls you are accustomed to say, “It will be fair weather, for the sky is fire-red”; and at morning, “It will be wintry, rainy weather today, for the sky is fire-red, but gloomy-looking.” You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but the signs of the times you cannot interpret.’”—Matthew 16:1-3

Another day at the funny farm.

I am a great believer in debate, and the exchange of ideas, and quite a few times, I have had my mind and views changed by debating on this site.

But this thread is really getting past anything approaching an exchange of anything.

It consists entirely of fervent Christians on one side, and atheists of varying strength on the other, each putting forward their views and being comprehensively ignored, or simply contradicted by the other side.

There is not the vaguest hint of anyone contributing regularly to it having a moment's thought for the views of the opposition, so it really has become a re-hash of views over and over again.

Is there really any point to this?
Can you not just remove it then mr Hughes?
Hope you are well.
Andy,in a word,NO.
There is never any point to R&S debates. Nobody will ever change their minds. But it can be interesting. Sometimes.
Pixie 374 most times I agree with you but I have still to find one of these posts interesting, just a opportunity for nailit and company to have a go at Thelland.
I think it's mutual... nobody has to join in, who doesn't want to. Sometimes theland even starts the posts himself... it's just a social site, that's all x

I am well thank you, and hope you and yours are well too.

I am not permitted under Site Rules to simply remove a thread because I think it has run its course, but even if I were, I would not dream of doing so.

The delight of the AB is to exchange views and opinions and find information, and it is never for any one person to dictate what is interesting or informative to others.

I have, and will continue to look in on this thread, but I believe, even by the normal standards of entrenched argument, that this one has absolutely run out of steam, but hey, that's just my view.

Some people never tire of offering their views on their pet subjects, and I am absolutely one of those (!) - it's just that this thread really is going round in circles …
I have just returned to this post, having forgotten that I had posted on it. Not wishing to continue the argument and annoy andy-hughes any further; and in this troubled time, peace on earth to everybody, well, let me just say this. If ever I need an interpreter for my posting here Khandro will not be at the top of the list.

(John 17:17) You fine hosts of critics, evolutionists, atheists and religionists have toiled relentlessly to try to discredit the truthfulness of the Word of God, that statement by Christ Jesus “stands.”

Jesus’ words in this way: “But I say to you who are listening, Continue to love your enemies, to do good to those hating you, to bless those cursing you, to pray for those who are insulting you.”—Luke 6:27, 28. true.
Yet you hear some scoff at the application of Revelation prophecies to modern times. Well, let them challenge the application. Let them put matters to the test.
Jehovah’s Witnesses on the other hand confident that the earth will not be ruined by or by any other means at man’s disposal Because, even though Adam’s children have on the whole subdued the earth in a disapproved way, there are those who are meek and teachable and amenable to the Creator’s way. They are willing to carry out his purpose to inhabit the earth and take care of it in the way he purposed.—Psalm 37:34.

Man already has...
I'm not sure why goodlife is seen as a genuine poster. It is only ever spam.
Vulcan, I am not annoyed in the slightest, just wryly amused.
Pixie, I wondered if I should ask him to be Turing Tested, but didn't like to raise the subject. You've now done that, so now simply say to GL 'are you willing to address a friendly word or two to me man to man without mentioning the bible?
Sorry andy-hughes, I misinterpreted your post. :o)
I'm not a man :-) and I have asked before...
Hi, goodlife, what are your opinions on objective or subjective morality?
Sorry Pixie; I missed out the word 'I' before 'now simply say...'
No worries x will wait for a human response x
Pixie, I have to pop out for exercise. I'll be back later to see if there's any response.
