My bank account has been looking healthier during lockdown but it's probably due for a big hit soon.
That's because I'll probably need a 'big shop' in a supermarket soon, which will probably cost me nearly a couple of hundred quid. (If you're wondering how someone who lives on their own can spend that much in a supermarket, it's because I'm on the 'sheltered' list and going shopping as infrequently as possible. It's 7 weeks since I was last in a major supermarket and I might survive another week or two before returning; I've just kept topping up things like bread and milk from a local corner shop when they open at 5am, in order to avoid any crowds).
While I'm at the supermarket though, I'll also need to buy a tankful of petrol, so that will knock my bank account back further, perhaps by another £70 or so. Also, I've been trying to stretch out my supply of clean clothes as long as possible (by only changing my more intimate garments every few days, instead of daily) in order to avoid visiting the launderette. It's now 10 weeks since I was last there though, so I'll definitely have to pay them a visit soon too. That will probably be around another £30 to fork out. I've also been sorting out loads of stuff that needs to go to the dry cleaners, so that might be another £60 or so.
So, rather than seeing an increase in what's in my account, I've got a feeling that my next statement might well show it having gone back down again :(
