What, after a pandemic, a war by Russia, and unreasonable attitudes to us from the EU ? Isn't likely to be is it ? Let the madness settle down first, then ask again.
I think Britain is a nastier, selfish and much angrier place. I think a lot of it stems from the prevalence of social media where you can be very rude and aggressive towards people with usually little consequence towards yourself.
Although I greatly dislike the Conservatives, I cant blame them for all our ills. However, having as PM has certainly damaged the nation in many ways
the conservatives gained power in 1979 and yes it is a better place today. The last Labour government, unions, Marxists etc were rapidly turning us into a Soviet state.
^ I completely agree with that first sentence. I always said that people will become so used to being rude and nasty on social media that it will cross over into real society.
Times change. To think that a government, of any complexion, fundamentally changes one's life is a notion proferred by politicians to feed their own egos. We are the victims, and beneficiaries, of economic circumstance, modestly tempered by the vagaries of the strutting actors upon the political stage. It is stupid to suppose a British government can act in any way outside world economic conditions. Think of the Crash. Or Covid.
100 times worse The blue witch Thatcher destroyed this country .The only way to make it stable again is with sensible socialist policies, fair taxation especially hammering the tory tax evaders and avoiders.Reverse privatation in GAS ELECTRICITY RAILWAYS POST OFFICE TELECOMS LOCAL TRANSPORT ETC.Stop giving other countries profits from services we could and should run for the benefit of this country instead of subsidising other countries.
Sadly no. For my friends and family who still live there I wish it was a better place.
That's not to say it'd be better under a different party. It just seems to be going to hell in a handcart and I hate to see that happening. :-(
I was asking about the last 12 years Tora... in what ways do you think life in Britain has been improved by the conservatives since they regained office in 2010?
i do understand that this country has faced serious crises in the last two years but what about the ten years before that? I struggle to think of anything the conservatives have done with their decade in power to improve this country... they seem if nothing else to have weakened and destabilised it!
untitled: "I was asking about the last 12 years Tora... in what ways do you think life in Britain has been improved by the conservatives since they regained office in 2010?" - you said 12 years ago when the Tories gained power. I was pointing out that real Labour have not been in power since 1979. But I'd say yes life is immeasurably better that 12 years ago.
