Some women like handbags and shoes ... I like watches. Give me a limitless credit card and I'd probably buy up a whole Swatch shop. I do think when someone buys a watch, it reflects their personality ... what type of watch do you wear? My current one has a cyan coloured face with white strap - nice for sunny days.
Dress watch is a gold Omega, quite vintage now - 16th birthday present from my parents when they went to Switzerland. Everyday use is a cheap waterproof/shockproof digital watch. It is very accurate and I use the alarm and stop watch facility when cooking. I have to have a watch on my wrist unless it is bed time.
Mainly chronographs. I switch my watches in rotation. Currently wearing a Breitling Navitimer. I have two or three chronographs by Stauer. One Omega automatic. Two Omega Speedmasters. One of which is a good knock off. One Pulsar and a couple of accurists. Most of my watches are chosen for the stopwatch facility and watertight integrity
I have a few different one, to suit my mood, the occasion etc. Swith metal straps which I consider more “formal” (E.g. Omega Seamaster) and a couple with bright coloured straps (E.g. Brietling endurance - blue strap / Audemars Piguet - orange strap and face).
Not sure what that says about my personality, LOL.
When there's nowt much on TV I sometimes amuse myself by having a look at the watches they sell on IdealWorld (Channel 51). The superlatives they use for watches I've never heard of and wouldn't wear if you gave me one are hilarious. I've only ever seen one that I would want.
Retro, I will rue the day police search my bag - my late father's Swiss army knife! Haz, my dear mother was so upset to leave the presentation box on top of the hotel's wardrobe, the watch was in a pristine gents white hankie in her portmanteau of a handbag ;)
I have a tic watch at present. Works fine and has apps etc.
I once bought a watch on Ebay for 10p (£2.50 psotage). I didnt think it would arrive but it did and I used it for five years on building sites as I didnt care if it got damaged. It never did but somehow I managed to loose it somewhere.
My wife swore the best watch she had was a freebie given with a 5litre tin of Duckhams motor oil. Her second watch was another given by Renault when she collected her new Clio.
I wear a silver coloured bracelet watch with a few sparkly bits in the face for day, then a cheap one from Debenhams if I`m going anywhere isolated or travelling on public transport at night and a Swatch for the beach.
