Research has shown that normal human cells are mortal, dividing only a finite number of times. After that, they stop dividing. It is a process that has been compared to an internal clock that controls when people age and die. Scientists are now working to reset this clock.
                                How Death Came to Be
Of course, people who have faith in the Bible have believed in the possibility of everlasting life for humans for millenniums. Their trust is not in human scientists but in the Master Scientist, who created all living things, MIGHTY God.

Psalm 104:24, 25, Human death thus came as a result of Adam’s rebellion and the subsequent judgment of God. Humans will not succeed in reversing that judgment. Though science has made many medical advances, the inspired words of Moses, written 3,500 years ago, still ring true: “In themselves the days of our years are seventy years; and if because of special mightiness they are eighty years, yet their insistence is on trouble and hurtful things; for it must quickly pass by, and away we fly.”—Psalm 90:10.

Canary 42, Sun 03rd Dec 2023   t's left to frauds such as locust to try to continue the myths in a twenty-first century context
Locust, You make one big mistake I'm not a fraud, Because archaeology,    Too much evidence to show
Jesus did exist, Can prove that Jesus did live, and to record his sayings, and when you look at much archaeology, thing, of the past, in the Roman Empire, which is today still shown, the Conquest of the Romans, History, and also of the Jewish state at that time, therefore the Bible can be proven that it is not of myth or a fabrication of the book.

I;m afraid there is no archaeological evidence of Jesus, and mno historical evidence either. If you believe that there is, you must have been lied to.

If I am wrong, could you please refer me to any evidence that you believe exists?

Locust, you can't prove Jesus lived.  No one can.

jesus ( pun intended) are we all Jesus-deniers this week end?

well - it IS AB on a saturday afternoon

Virtually all scholars of antiquity accept that Jesus was a historical figure, and the idea that Jesus was a mythical figure has been consistently rejected by the scholarly consensus as a lunatic fringe theory.[7][8][9][10][11] except by a crazy minority of know-alls concentrated in London's Answerbank - and quite honestly God knows what THEY believe

and another one

if anyone finds the discussion on AB too thin, and undernourished.

Peter Pedant, it's a good idea to ascertain what people believe before deciding you know - because you don't.  We're talking about 'proof'.  Hopefully you'll take a breath, stop insulting everyone, have a little think and eventually cotton on to the difference.

Locust, did you know there's a tomb in India alledged to be that of jesus?  I think it entirely possible.

Atheist //If I am wrong, could you please refer me to any evidence that you believe exists?//

There's a quite compelling hypothesis in Kersten's book here that Jesus survived the crucifixion & then went to India. User Recommendationref=sr_1_8?crid=393YZ9ZCRXOTK&keywords=jesus+was+in+india&qid=1702141382&s=books&sprefix=jesus+was+in+india%2Cstripbooks%2C127&sr=1-8

^That's what I'm talking about in the post above yours, khandro.

That's the very place I'd head for if I had fresh, open wounds and no access to antibiotics.

No I think I would put camel  dung on it - like ickle babies umbilical cords - only  the  stongest survive

Hopefully you'll take some time to read the refs I have given

we accept Fact A and want to know the proof for it. other way round surely? - hey but this IS  AB er on a sunday

That's what I'm talking about in the post above yours, khandro.

proof that Jesus un-nailed himself and walked to India ( no business class then, reader)

er, good luck ABers on that one !

Peter Pedant, //proof //

No it isn't - and no one said it is.  Try reading what others are saying.

douglas // That's the very place I'd head for if I had fresh, open wounds and no access to antibiotics.//

Kersten points out how after the death of Jesus, Joseph asked Pilate for permission to take Jesus' body and bury it properly. Permission was granted and the body was taken down. Joseph, helped by Nicodemus, wrapped the body in cloth with the addition of myrrh and aloes, and as Joseph was a medic of sorts he was able to apply more substaces to act as 'antibiotics'.

He also argue convincingly that what is now called the Turin Shroud  is actually what he was wrapped in.

^In short, Jesus didn't die on the cross.

He also argues convincingly that what is now called the Turin Shroud  is actually what he was wrapped in.

is this ironic ? ( er well this is AB)

well anyway he is wrong - 1260 plus or minus 40

The holy image obeys the inverse square law quite well and this indicates that the bare  shroud was laid over a hot metal figurine.

Our site textile expert ( Elisabeth Crowfoot) gave an extempore opinion on the weaving technique of the shroud but would not allow authoriship as she was not allowed to examine it, only photographs. And she said it was kosher ( pun intended) (*)

and paleobotanists said the pollen in the shroud were all the type of plants found in AD 30 around Jerusalem.

and they were wrong which only goes to show

1. weaviing techniques didnt change for 2000 y

2. plants growing well in AD 30 gew well in the same place AD 1250

and is a good exercise if you think about it ( careful this is AB) on "weighing evidence"

so how did I know it was our Elizaveta? Style I read the opinion and thought " Elisabeth Crowfoot wrote that"

and she explained when I bearded her, that she wasnt allowed to handle the textile and so 'no names, no pack drill'

Yeah the one whose sista was a Nobel prize winner - Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin. Thatcher's tutor ( plain 2.2 chemist) when she was "up"

my comments on the textile of the shround is not intended to be loony AB stuff you normally get on these threads ( shreds)

Khandro, George Clooney acts like a doctor but I wouldn't want him to do my vasectomy.

I'll stick with the real thing.
