My best one was when they all made me a 'cake' out of cooking chocolate, food colouring, mashmallows and anything else they could find, they had a ball making it and I had a great time sharing it, took photos of it. We go to my mums for a cup of tea and a cake and then to mother-in-laws for the same. But most of the day is spent with my own family. Lots of people do different things. Its what works for you. Try talking to your husband and suggest you go out for meal with the children and then pop in and see his mum.
good luck mother-in-laws are never easy to deal with.
