Can anyone where I can get a good sleeping bag to go camping in this dreadful weather in 2 weeks time?
I love camping but DETESTE anything less than 20 degrees centigrade so I'm constantly cold (I sometimes even wear thin woolly gloves in the hot summer time!!!!!)
I can't think of any camping shops even though there must be loads... oh, and I don't use credit cards so it HAS to be a shop, not bought online.
forget sleeping bags take a good heavy duvet and sleep in the middle of your mates and use their body heat and wear lots of thin layer and then you will be able to take things of if you get too warm. And don't forget the cold comes up through the ground so make sure you have plenty of protection underneath you. Or you could just get intoxicated and then you won't feel the cold. happy camping
Well, the tent I'm sleeping in, we've lovingly nick-named called Ol' Betsy because it's been around since the 70's... so no matter what happens, I'm gonna get frozen to death!
Plus, everyone is sleeping in couples, so I'm on my own I think!
there tend to be very good independant "outdoor" type shops in specific locations; without knowing your location, you could try Black's - http://www.blacks.co.uk/blacks.storefront/ and enter your postcode in their store finder.
scout shops used to be good, but in 2004 the group moved away from retail activity.
Simply head to your nearest Argos store and take a look at page 114 of their catalogue. There's some excellent information about the recommended tog values for different overnight temperatures. (It also explains about the different types of sleeping bags, such as 'mummy' and 'cowl' types). This is followed by several pages of sleeping bags offered for sale, with the tog value shown alongside each one.
