In todays society should you thanks newly weds by post for being a guest at their wedding. I have never done so only in circumstances where i needed to contact them regarding the arrival of a gift etc. Am i right?many of my freinds tell me i should send a thankyou note to the hosts of the wedding, usually the brides parents, although i alway make a point of doing this at the end of the day. Am i right??

I usually put a little thank you in the RSVP to an invite..and yes, I also say thank you during the line up at the reception ~ if there is one!

sorry I didnt make it that clear, I am talking about after the day itself, sending a thankyou note after the wedding.
I have never sent a thank you by post after the actual day and have not heard of this. Normally the only correspondance about the wedding after, is them sending you a thank you for the gift.

My boyfriend, reading this over my shoulder, has said it is an american tradition.
No, you were perfectly clear in your question :o)

Maybe I wasn't..lol! like Psychick I have never heard of sending a thank you after the event ~ I have always put a thank you in the RSVP..whether I was accepting the invitation or not.

Not that I am right, of course ~ I may well have been braking an etiquette rule all this time!
