The funny thing is, most English ppl have Scottish, Welsh and Irish blood and vice versa. I'm English with one Irish great grandfather so I suppose I'm one eighth Irish! I'm saddened that so many S, W and I appear to hate us and will even support whatever football team we're playing but what can you do. It's certainly interesting to note this difference:
An Irish bloke makes disparaging remarks about the English and nothing is done.
An English woman (anne robinson) does the same about the Welsh and is questioned by the police.
I'm not suggesting the Irishman should be castigated in any way. But this double standard has to stop.
Incidentally, why is Aussie an ok name for an Australian but **** not for Pakistani? They're both shortening of names, surely?
In Hong Kong white westerners are known as gweilohs (ghosts) because of our pale faces. I couldn't care less.
I think if someone applies a national, cultural or racial stereotype and it offends you, it's a case of If The Cap Fits.
