No Islamic school

Here in Australia , the council and residents of a small country town south of Sydney have unanimously rejected an application to build an Islamic school. They are now being branded as racists by the Islamic community. How can this be racism , Islam is a religion not a race. I agree with them when they say that if the school is built they will eventually become a minority in their own town. You only have to go to the western suburbs of Sydney where if your not a Lebanese Muslim ....watch your back

Anyway surely the Aussies have a law against any organisation being only for a certain group. I mean imagine the uproar if you tried to start a white atheists only school.

Islamic schools main aim is so children gain an education about there own religion while getting an academic education too, I think more people should understand that.

I don't think that you can have a multicultural society, to me it's a contradiction in terms: surely its culture, beliefs and values are what defines a society. What I see in the UK are multiple societies emerging as minorities increase in size.

Islam is not just a religion, it's a way of life. A way that is 100% different from the culture we in the west enjoy.

Having watched news reports on this on Sky news, I have to say that I agree with the residents they interviewed, the regular Aussies welcomed people from all over the world, Brits, Thai's, South Americans, Chinese and other Europeans, these ethnics were more than willing to integrate with the Australians. Muslims however weren't hence the demonstrations

I like the Aussies way of thinking when coming to forming groups and organisations. Give any organised group an inch and the take a yard. Then they start demanding rights to exists.

You right 4GS, Islam is not only a religion but also a culture. What I don't understand and will never understand, is why do Muslims leave their countries for other civilised countries, and then want to change the rules and force their lifestyles onto others. If they cannot cope then return to their countries.
