Well what a night . It's still going strong with the press and the onlookers but I think it's died down enough for me to try to go to bed and get some sleep. I have to be up at 6 . I just thought I would let you know how exciting and dangerous my street is . Not that I would have thought that my next door neighbour , a quiet couple in my age range , would have been the cause of the commotion.
About 3 hours ago I heard an Alsation dog barking and looked out my curtain ...only to see the Armed Response Police team aiming their weapons at my next door neighbours house . The street cordoned off , 2 police dogs , 7 police vehicles and 2 armed units.
I am going to bed now , but will continue to tell you more in the morning , if I can sleep , I'm still shaking.

The most distressing thing that's happened in my road today is that a guy walked down my road in shorts, grey socks and sandals, and one of those cotton hats that English holidaymakers wear on the beach.

Hopefully he didn't get too far before the fashion police apprehended him.

In the meantime, I'm off to bed too.

OMG BM,

Similar thing happened to me a few years ago. ARP was aiming their weapons at my neighbours house. Turns out she was stashing drugs and firearms. It was quite scary. People wonder why I want to move away.

I remember coming home one night to find my entire street (alloey down the side of a park) closed off with police, forensics etc... due to a nutter stabbing someone 7 times (was even on Crimewatch).

My comfort was that there were so many police around. We had a police cordon for about a week (they used to help me with the wheelie bin bless em) and then a mobile police station and always loads of them about.

We had loads of visits so they may come and have a chat so you may be able to put your mind at rest then about what happened and what will happen now.

Oh , sorry I left you last night but I had to go to bed not only for myself but also so my dog would come off her alert state.
The neighbours were not coming out for the police and they had to get a negotiator to coax them to let the police in.
The armed poilce asked me if they could get round the back so I let them through my house and through my back garden . 2 of them , plus a police dog and handler , and then 2 more police trained their guns on the back of the neighbours house from my back garden . My front door was left open , and my back door so they could go back and forth. Another officer was searching my front yard and next doors , and they found a shell in next doors gateway.
To cut it shorter .....oops too late ....they eventually , after 3 hours got in and arrested the hubby . A bit later an officer brought out all these firearms and bagged up hand guns .
The police have been in the house all night and I haven't seen the wife yet.

Good heavens bigmamma (I'm keeping the language clean here). It just goes to show that you never know what goes on in other people's houses doesn't it? After it's all died down though you can remember all those policemen in their uniforms! Sorry - I was getting carried away there

You poor thing! I remember having to report a car being broken into at night, i answered the door armed with a wok! I was only 14 and on my own!
Good to know they where good looking!
