Who remembers the 60's and mini-skirts?

We were more than likely a more religious, more family orientated, community based society with less obesity, binge-drinking and stabbings, but that is irrelevant to my questions.............

which are...................

1) Were mini-skirts initially only worn by sIags or by those wishing to express their new-found femininity and/or sexual freedom.

2) Did fat birds wear mini-skirts in the 60's like some of the tubby ones nowadays wear cropped tops with no dignity?

3) Did parents cuss and complain about mini-skirts?

4) Were you allowed to wear mini-skirts to school?

5) Did they cause a rise in wolf-whistles in public?

they certainly were NOT only worn by slags! I was a little girl and wore them and my mum wore them too.
The younger and more attractive you were, the shorter they were - or that is how it seemed to me.
I had a beautiful primary school teacher who had the longest legs and the shortest skirts, yet I never ever saw her knickers! It always amazed me.
When i wasn't wearing my minis, i wore my purple hot pants!

And some parents were outraged.

There was a big difference in style in the 60s - most girls wore them with tights, nice shoes and tops, so they were glam rather than tarty. The materials were very different.

All the girls wore minis in the 60's and no we were emphatically not allowed them in school which made us very inventive - in school, regulation length - out of school at lunchtime turn the waistbands over a few times and hey presto the mini! Mind you we'd a very strict rector who didn't allow us to turn up in trousers for Saturday hockey matches! Oh and in my very last year at school we had a dance and we were informed at assembly that morning that no "moon-dancing" would be allowed at the shindig. Which by the way he attended and proceeded to separate those who he thought were getting ,ahem, too close! Happy memories and Ethel thanks for the pics.
