I think you can be pretty certain that if you leave a Club you won't be the favourite of that Club.

I think that's the answer to the question brionon, it's all about which club you're in.
Scotland doesn't want independence. It wants to leave the small club it's currently in (run from London) and join the larger one (run from Brussels).
It wants to be independent of the U.K, not independent full stop.
