Teenagers' Party!
30 Answers
Help, I have around 20 teenagers descending at the weekend for a 13th birthday party. I need a few inspirational ideas on what to feed them.
I was thinking of doing a barbeque for mains - other than the ubiquitous burgers and sausages - is there anything that teenagers might like?
What about dessert? I was thinking chocolate brownie, millionaires shortbreads and ice creams.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Unfortunately, every suggestion I put to birthday girl results in a shrug of the shoulders and a curl of the lip. She is a fussy madam, so I am hoping not all teenagers are the same............

Burgers, sausages, sauces...ooh are there any veggies?
You could make it easier for you and just get a big birthday cake for dessert?
You could always make it a bit more birthday like with a drinks reception but with non-alcoholic cocktails with fancy umbrellas and such as she is turning 13.

I have already asked whether there are any vegetarians. Apparently there are not. Which puts my mind at rest somewhat.
As it is, ordering pizza and ice cream was a considered option, but that has been discounted on the basis of cost.
I am considering ordering a crate of pinot and leaving them to it!!!

I'm trying to think a bit SATC (not that I watch it) with it being so in at the moment, do they watch stuff like that at that age???
You could always go for a kind of theme, maybe do it a bit arabian like with lanterns (will it get dark before they leave?) and cushions and such, non alcoholic cocktail on arrival, maybe do more of a kebab theme on the BBQ with say rice, roast veggies and salad on the side then a chocolate fountain then birthday cake?

retail at less than £50 so I might just buy one. Think she would love it.
No, they are going while it is still light. Next door has babies so we don't want to disturb them too late.
I may however had to kill the BF. Here I am trying to knock out an advice and arrange this party and all he is doing is suggesting cars he might hire for the weekend which his daughter might like. Yeah right.

Ahhhh!
Just had another thought, how about those lovely chinese paper lanterns you can light and send up? I know it won't be dark but it's still a lovely idea though, I saw some in one of the pound shops round here and always meant to get some.
They freaked me out a bit on New Years Eve until I realised what they were! Looked like we were being invaded round here :)
Or you could do pretty balloons, get them to blow them up and write messages on them then let them go.

have a look online for the chocolate fountain, I got one for about £20, the instructions that came with it were really good, you need lots of chocolate to make it work well, but it's really good! we had strawberries, marshmallows, brownies, and bananas, and just dipped them in!..Lovely dessert!...............
Have a look here Barmaid, I know that time is short, but they may be able to get a Chocolate Fountain to you in time, and there are some at less than £20! Worth a try!
