My husband once drove Tony Benn home from Leicester to London after a show. Tony said he would have normally gone home by train, but he doesn't like travelling alone on trains late at night. When they got to his house, he asked my husband in for coffee before his drive back home. My husband refused, but said it was very nice to be asked.
