Name the country or town

[coccinelle]

Lots of people in the streets, also cars, donkeys, dogs and other animals. Little shops selling chickens, hens, turkeys and rabbits, stalls with fruit and vegetables, cooking smells (not always nice). It's a dirty city with lots of petrol pollution and industrial smoke. But on the whole lovely smells.

I have never been to such a city so don't have a clue. Can anybody help?

I have read quite a few books based on this city coccinelle but it could be anywhere but for some reason I think it will be Middle Eastern

My first thought was Bangkok. But it might be any Asian city

Thanks bobbisox. I too wondered if it wouldn't be Mid East but then wondered about China or other Asian cities. I'll see what some other ABers say. The donkeys and dogs should be a giveaway also selling of rabbits, turkeys etc

Could be Bangkok too. I've been to Mexico City chelle and didn't see donkeys and dogs roaming about and it smells quite bad of petrol.

Yes, chelle it's finding a place that has all these; smells good overall, roaming donkeys, dogs and other animals; selling live chickens, rabbits etc loads of cars and industrial pollution; cooking smells AND dirty well, with all those animals roaming about it would be!!

Blimey....this could be almost anywhere. Start with Tangier, then work your way eastwards until you reach the Pacific. It's somewhere along there.

I can't remember seeing any donkeys in Bangkok or loads of petrol pollution. What about Tehran? Apparently its the post polluted city in the world.

There are quite a lot of contradictions which makes it difficult to place. No, no donkeys in Bangkok or Mexico city. "Selling chickens, hens". They`re one and the same. The only thing that catches my eye is that they are selling rabbit. Rabbit is eaten more in Europe. A city in Provence maybe? There is lots of lavender grown there as well at rabbit recipes.

No, can't think of a very dirty town or city in Provence, not with industrial smoke and petrol pollution.

I was thinking about India but there aren`t a lot of donkeys about. There are lots of cows roaming about though! I saw one by the doors of an airport once.
