Religion: The refusal to question what you believe and the refusal to believe what you know.

Spirituality: The failure to grasp that consciousness is restricted to the sentient beings that provide the means and platform in which it arises for the purpose of sustaining and promoting their mutually interdependent existence.
I dispute your definition of religion - lots of people have done a lot of questioning before deciding which is the right faith for them to follow, and the one which best fits their personal beliefs and way of life. I agree some of blind followers, but many thoroughly investigate and question before making up their minds.

Boxtops, Perhaps some of us 'make up our minds' too soon, or without a sufficient understanding of the basis for our beliefs. As for, the 'right' faith; does such an animal exist?

All the same, thanks for your constructive criticism and I look forward to any definitions of your own you might be willing to contribute.

Trimeresurus, Thanks for sharing.

Can't possibly say it better than Ambrose Bierce:

RELIGION, n. A daughter of Hope and Fear, explaining to Ignorance the nature of the Unknowable.

HEAVEN, n. A place where the wicked cease from troubling you with talk of their personal affairs, and the good listen with attention while you expound your own.

CHRISTIAN, n. One who believes that the New Testament is a divinely inspired book admirably suited to the spiritual needs of his neighbor.

ELYSIUM, n. An imaginary delightful country which the ancients foolishly believed to be inhabited by the spirits of the good. This ridiculous and mischievous fable was swept off the face of the earth by the early Christians — may their souls be happy in Heaven!

FAITH, n. Belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge, of things without parallel.

WORSHIP, n. Homo Creator's testimony to the sound construction and fine finish of Deus Creatus.

*snap* There's the trouble with great ideas. More than likely, someone else got there first! :o/

Oh well . . . "Any more 'brilliant' ideas mibn?"
Religion; Spiritual legends that are too ridiculous for the fable books.

Faith; A conviction to justify unexplainable religeous impugnation
.
Myth; What you yell when your tongue is frozen to the bridge railing and you call out to the lady going past.

Worship; A misspellt battle boat.
The difference between religion and philosophy is:

Religion is answers that cannot be questioned and philosophy is questions that cannot be answered.
An eye for an eye is two Yorkshiremen agreeing.
The church says the earth is flat, but I know that it is round, for I have seen the shadow on the moon, and I have more faith in a shadow than in the church.
— Ferdinand Magellan
I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off.

So I ran over and said 'Stop! don't do it!'

'Why shouldn't I?' he said.

I said, 'Well, there's so much to live for!'

He said, 'Like what?'

I said, 'Well...are you religious or atheist?'

He said, 'Religious.'

I said, 'Me too! Are you Christian or Buddhist?'

He said, 'Christian.'

I said, 'Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?'

He said, 'Protestant.'

I said, 'Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?'

He said, 'Baptist!'

I said, 'Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord?'

He said, 'Baptist Church of God!'

I said, 'Me too! Are you original Baptist Church of God, or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God?'

He said, 'Reformed Baptist Church of God!'

I said, 'Me too! Are you reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915?'

He said, 'Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915!'

I said, 'Die, you heretic scum,' and I pushed him off.
