Considering you said atheists do not know that kinda makes you the stupid one. I mean me and a whole lot of other people have our own beliefs yet you have none. you just dont know. i have to say, thats weird.
Or Naomi, he could say, "I am like so many from over the centuries and use the concept of God to explain the unexplainable" rather than explore the scientific rationale and realise/accept that there are things out there that we do not yet understand or have discovered.
It [the Universe] is like an onion of millions of layers and slowly we are peeling it back with our science.
The incredible thing in this day and age is how powerful this God brainwashing is but then I guess there are too many invested interests, starting with Mecca and Rome.

DT, science continues to progress by filling in the gaps, and those gaps are getting smaller all the time, but rather than explore the scientific rationale, if we look at the question from a different angle by investigating the history of the God of Abraham, we can say what the answer is unlikely to be. I was much impressed by Brian Cox when he said that science is actually trying to disprove Einstein. If only the faithful could bring themselves to look at the problem so honestly instead of insisting, without evidence, that they know the answer, they might succeed in removing at least one doubtful solution from the equation.
i don't think their is much equivalence in brian cox saying that science is actually trying to disprove einstein, and the world at large trying to disprove god. at least not to your everyday god botherer.
debasing theories can considered to be fairly strightforward, eventually wit evidence to back it up. but debasing religious belief systems is seismic. it takes evolution and generations, not a few posts on answerbank.

That surely applies to other sections of AB too, not least News and Society & Culture, so does that mean those who have opinions on certain topics there shouldn't bother posting? You do complain rather a lot so perhaps you should consider sharing the benefit of your wisdom with the Editorial Team. You never know, they might be very grateful to you for your efforts to discourage people from contributing - although somehow I doubt it.

I once heard a story which illustrates where God fits into religion:-
A Russian astronaut returned from a space flight and was welcomed back to earth by his country's leader who enquired.." When you were out in space, did you feel that there was a power greater than us humans". The astronaut replied "Yes"; However, for the sake of the USSR was sworn by his leader to secrecy and not to tell a living soul.
Story has it that the astronaut then went on a world tour and met the Pope who asked the same question. However, being a person who did not break promises, replied "No". It was then the case that the Pope said " I think the same but, for the continuance of the Catholic faith, promise me that you'll not tell a living soul".
