I don't defend polygamy (and claiming benefits for all of them is, after all, keeping them all in an equal status) but those who can often have a senior wife, far from discarding them, and the others should be equally cared for. That IS in Islamic writings (don't ask me to quote) but it says that all should be treated equally.
What everyone may not know is that this practice began in the 7th century, when so many men were killed in the battle of Badr and others, that Mohammed pbuh suggested that the remaining men should marry the widows, otherwise they had no means of supporting themselves and their children. Four, for some reason, was the suggested figure. Hardly the case now, there is no shortage of available men, so IMO there is no reason why the practice should still be recognised or condoned.

And what you call a ‘bunch of quotes from someone else’ come directly from the Islamic website Keyplus posted outlining the reasons that Islam does not allow female judges. They are the rules according to Islam - so tell me which of those quotes aren’t sexist.

He is apparently forgetting that all of the supposed "wisdom" in the the books of his faith are from the top shelf and rejection of any of them must be considered arbitrary and hence unrightous.
The fat that any part of the books advises things that are obviously not waht we should be doing indicates one thing.

naomi, i have also given a straight answer and i cannot believe how thick some people are when this is the 5th time i have said that ISLAM IS NOT SEXIST, IT IS SOME OF THE PEOPLE WITHIN THE RELIGION, LIKE EVERY OTHER RELIGION, THERES SEXIST CHRISTIANS, HINDUS AND ATHEISTS ETC but of course that is not going to be a straight answer for you as i have brought atheists into the equation.

The question is “Which religion has the worst record for sexual discrimination?” To answer that you need to nominate a specific religion, which so far you’ve failed to do. All you have done is insist that Islam isn’t sexist. So which religion has the worst record for sexual discrimination? A one word answer will do.

What would you do if your loved one (wife, husband, son, daughter, mother, father or add anyone else) is trying to jump off the cliff? Would you let them, stop them, or would do something else that I am not aware of?

Vetuste – If you want to know about Polygamy (4 allowed) then simple answer is that Islam put a limit of 4 at a time when there was no limit with no rights given to women. But still Quran “VERY CLEARLY” says that if you wouldn’t be able to do justice then marry only one. And in that regard Quran is the ONLY religious book in the world that says marry only ONE. Now about your question about sex with slave. And let me tell you that this was one question that always disturbed me too. Until I saw an article explaining it. Here it is read and see, but do keep one thing in mind that Islam abolished slavery centuries before West just thought about it through a system given by Quran.
