Nox // All we can hope for is that we all respect one another enough not to get nasty if anyone disagrees with us //

That didn't last long either.
So, atheists, according to Keyplus, arent wiser at all - they do not have the intellectual capacity to fully understand Keyplus' convincing arguments about the muslim version of god.

"Dave, I can give you very detailed information on why the God I believe is the right one. But you do not have depth of knowledge to understand that."

Yeah, right Keyplus. Like any intellectual rigour is required to have blind faith.................
because they are wiser.

they don't fall for fantastical stories that are full of hypocrisy and impossibilities and let them rule their life - yet have absolutely zero evidence for.

id say that was pretty dumb

as judge judy says - if something doesnt make sense its usually because it isnt true.

religion, bible, koran etc are brimming over with inconsistencies, unbelievable claims, prejudice, murder etc etc - only a fool would believe them all and take it literally.

it is a sad state of affairs that human beings have on the whole been so thoroughly hoodwinked by something so nonsensical, and allowed it to get so huge as to govern our lives in so many ways.

we are supposed to be an intelligent species.
I've just written an enormously long reply and deleted all of it. Suffice to say that, as an atheist, I do not consider myself wiser than non-atheists in general, but only of some atheists and some non-atheists (and a lot less wiser than many others). There is no common ground between believers and unbelievers so let us just respect each others different views provided those views do not develop into actions which are detrimental to either side.
i am an atheist and my sister in law is a teacher, and very intelligent. She is a devout Christian too.
One day, I asked her: "How come, you are a very clever person and yet you believe there is an almighty something that created us all, when you know the facts about the big bang and evolution? I find it so hard to understand that you can believe so much in - what is to me - just a story?

She said: "And I find it really hard to understand that you, as clever as you are, don't believe it."
We went on to have quite a discussion, without patronising each other at all.
I realised that it is just down to faith. You either believe it or you don't - regardless of your intelligence!
Keyplus, rubbish! You know no more about the unknown than anyone else – including your teachers.

Since the potential of scientific discovery is mind-boggling, I can, to a degree, understand why people think there must be a ‘creator’, but I can’t understand why anyone who has bothered to do the slightest research continues to believe that the creator is the God of Abraham – or that a creator God takes an interest in them personally. It doesn’t take a super intelligence to illustrate that the god of the Bible/Koran was not omnipotent – and neither does it take a super intelligence to demonstrate that whatever it is, if it exists, takes no personal interest whatsoever in the welfare of human beings – and most certainly holds no special affection for the species. Perhaps that’s the answer. Those who believe it haven’t done the research - they simply believe what other people tell them because it suits their ego to do so.

Steve, not sure what side of the fence you're on there.
religion is a safey net - a pat on the back and stroke on the head.
it pleases and comforts people who need to be comforted.
they need the idea that 'everythings ok' and that they are being 'minded' by some fabulous being that loves them ...
because they either cannot cope with the idea that they are quite simply on their own in the universe, and no more important that any other being on this planet ...
they have to believe they are somehow special and worthy and loved... rather than simply a random act of earths biology -
but they have to be loved by a god - it has to be some kind of super amazing higher being - that loves them ... couldnt just be other people or a pet or anything ... its kind of an arrogance really

it makes them feel safe.

atheists, no matter how much they may actually quite like there to be a god watching over them, 'keeping them safe' , cannot logically and realistically convince themselves or allow themselves to believe something so irrational

sadly religious people feel all safe and cosy and believe they are being 'minded' - while conveniently ignoring all the terrible and horrifying things that are happening all over the world to other people who also believed god was taking care of them too, and who did not deserve the atrocities that befell them ...

but hey, hes watching over you...right? ... you will be fine...

Lazygun ////So, atheists, according to Keyplus, arent wiser at all////

I will take that as your words and not mine. I do not decide about the people’s wisdom and intellect on the basis of their belief.
