"When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realised that the Lord doesn’t work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me." – Emo Philips

Thats the reality of praying Im afraid!
Salvation is asking Jesus to come into your life and forgive you. And then you are saved so praying after that is communicating directly with God.
Forgive me for doing what?

Save me from what?

Salvation from love, steaks, telegraph poles, friendship, poetry, religion... You know what 'everything in general' means for heaven's sake!
