I am human. I will breed you and indescriminantly kill you for my food. I will also select the ones that feel nice, kill you and make you into my clothes. When I feel lonely or need to seek solace in my terrible life I will use you for your companionship and convince myself you love me.
Now I get laughed at a lot by turning to vegetarianism more and more but does the above not sound just pathetic?
Hi jj what it means is I ate meat at Christmas lunch and twice since as there was nothing else to eat apart from that and I was starving. I avoid it when possible. It's easy to say oh it's dead anyway I'm not doing anything wrong by eating it. But the thing is if everyone cut down or only ate small quantities where possible we could contribute towards the welfare if animals and the environmental issues we have in the planet. I consider these things as relevant issues.
So...you only eat meat if you are starving. Good grief. If you have eaten in the last 3 days you are not starving. If you eat meat when there is nothing else...were there no vegetables then? Seriously, you give proper vegetarians a bad name.
Human beings are of the animal kingdom and some humans are more 'animal' than others. It's notable that most of the 'meat animals' are themselves herbivorous and of a relatively kindly nature. Many vegetarians feel a certain empathy of spirit towards them. So be it.
Use of leather shoes is not really a valid point. The animal was not killed for its skin but for food. To not use the other things it then supplies would be disrespectful.
I can't get the image of the Christmas dining table covered with a whole roasted boar, joints of beef, turkeys, ducks and chicken, a couple of gammons and a little dish filled with pigs in blankets............and absolutely no vegetables in sight not even a solitary pea!
@JJ by OGs reasoning, were a vegetarian to kill an animal for its clothing potential, they would be putting principle before respect for the animal were they to just ignore the meat as a food source..
I don't laugh at vegetarians or criticize them. I would like to be a vegetarian as I feel for the animals we eat but sadly I would starve as I don't like or process a lot of veges. The more we get to know about animals we realize that they are not just dumb creatures however I do eat them.
