Jehovah's Witnesses...

Two lovely old ladies just knocked on my door. I didn't want to answer, as I knew who they were, but in my quest of 'being a better person' (and the fact it is raining!) I answered.
I told them I didn't feel well and now was not a good time - which is true.
BUT... rather than just leave it at that, I said "but please do come back another time"....??!! Why!!!
They were really pleased with that and said "oh thank you (surprised tone). We will".
They've given me three leaflets to "read through when I'm feeling better".
One of them is a copy of the current Watchtower, the next one is a "One Man Died For All" leaflet, and the other (bizarrely) is "How To Be A Good Father".... er....
Are you as polite to JW's, or do you tell them where to go?

I find they don't bother you is you explain you are a Satanist and you are actively looking for servants of God to sacrifice at the next Sabbat. Pity really, because the Satanist movement could do with a few more converts.

No, madmen I am not very polite to them. But on the other hand I am not rude either. I just say No thankyou, very firmly and shut the door before they have a chance to answer. If you give them a tiny fraction of an inch they will be in your house reading huge tracts of their interpretation of the Bible to you. And you will be on your knees with them!! I have known a few and will always remember the childrens' Christmases, or non-Christmases if you like. My aunt was not allowed to give her grandchildren any presents! It was cruel to the children and to my aunt. She would still take a present for them and the mother would take it and put it behind the settee, to be disposed of later. I am an atheist, but can still be sympathetic to believers and I am sure this is not the way Jesus would have behaved.
Star, yeah I know they'll definitely be coming back.
I also know that I'll probably end up inviting them in and will just sit there whilst they go through it all. I just can't seem to come out with the words that I'm not interested.
I kind of feel sorry for them. Ok, so I know it's their choice, but is it really? Are they not just brainwashed and doing what someone tells them to do, traipsing round in the pouring rain, having door after door shut on them.
I know what you mean about the kids and Christmas. My ex was brought up as a JW (he had no choice), and as a result of that, he tends to go completely overboard with the kids at Christmas and birthdays, and spoils them rotten. He says he never had it as a kid and always felt left out. It's harsh.
