khandro //Nobody ever walked on water (unless it's frozen). It is one of many mis-translations from the Greek, and should be, walked 'by' the water. //
According to the gospels they refer to him being in the midst of the sea.
It said Peter joined him but sank and Jesus had to save him .
It says the fishermen had rowed 25-30 furlongs which is about 4 miles so it is unlikely they were near to shore , not if they were looking for fish.
I don't doubt that there are hundreds of false translations in the bible but coupled with the rest of the descriptions in Mathew , Mark and John the event took place out at sea not 'by the sea '.
We also read in John that their intention had been to go over the sea towards Capernaum . I don't know where that is but it was over the sea .
