All we are doing is discussing the philophical, logical and historical anomolies upon which religion appears to be based. You need not concern yourself with these discussions since you have belief which neatly sidesteps these troubleome intellectual details. I'm sure your god will show his appreciation in some unambiguous way for your solid faith.
If he was Almighty, why didn't he send down a few thunderbolts to get rid of the chariots ? Or a vast flood or a pestilence - I seem to remember some of those in the Old Testament. I'm sure an Almighty must have lots of options, but he clearly didn't choose any of them.

Much can be lost on the passing of stories from one generation to another. The lord would be with Judah, as he is with all his creations surely ? So it need not be interpreted that the lord was taking an active role. than may have been an assumption made a few generations down the line. Those acting in his name fail to take the valley, those who come later 'big it up' a bit.
