Interesting you mentioned this, considering the large numbers of people, myself included, with apparently large amount of freedom who are converting to a religion which is seen by you as belonging from the "dark ages". Yet, in recent years even with the large criticisms of islam, more people are converting. I find that really interesting.

As mentioned, yes, people are bound to leave the religion. People leave religions all the time whatever religion it is. However if Islam was really barbaric, backwards and outdated no where near as many people would be accepting it.

Not all, but most. Take your own wife, for example – and Keyplus’ wife – and P.Dust who converted because she married a Muslim, and although to my knowledge he has only mentioned it once, there is actually one man here who claims to have converted because he married a Muslim women, so one way or another it would appear that love is, indeed, blind.

Birdie is right. The number of Muslims in the UK is growing, not because of conversions, but because the birth rate is much higher among Muslims than any other group. However, those children will be exposed to western influence and there is no guarantee that they will remain Muslim.

Worldwide, Muslims old enough to make a choice are abandoning Islam in droves – in Africa alone 6 million people leave Islam every year – and similar trends are seen in countries around the world, including Islamic nations like Iran, where in the past 5 years one million have converted to Christianity. In the USA it is estimated that around 75% of converts leave the religion within a few years.

The reputation that Islam has acquired for itself over the past several years precedes it, and with accurate information now freely available, people are determining that Islam’s antiquated doctrine, its penchant for perpetrating lies, and its apparent determination to wreak havoc in the world, is not acceptable. However, as is confirmed by the posts on here, rather than acknowledge reality, the faithful continue to deceive themselves and to allow others to deceive them.

These two provide evidence. Naomi, you said muslim women convert to islam out of romance or love for the man their marrying who happens to be a muslim. I do not doubt that as that is a legitimate reason, however their are also others, such as people who may just be interested in the faith which you may find hard to believe but its true.

Lightbulb, you give me a link and the first thing I read is the story of a woman convert married to a suspected bomber! The second claims to have converted alongside her Damascus-born husband, but fails to tell us which religion he converted from. Additionally, your link says 'About 1 in 5 converts mentioned family factors, including marrying a Muslim, as a reason for adopting the faith', so clearly, the reason for converting wasn't a direct question. Perhaps the rest just didn't mention it. Of course these women say they aren’t brainwashed – YOU say you aren’t brainwashed!! Sheesh!

How about addressing the question of the millions, worldwide, leaving Islam? Or is that something you’d rather not think about?
