ClaryS, your post began with ‘Naomi commented’ – hence one could be forgiven for supposing that you were addressing my comment. I’m assuming your last was addressed to me, but if I’m mistaken, please ignore the following.
Why do I feel the need to engage them? Well, my long interest in religion plays a major role in my life, and since their unsolicited visits to my home are for the sole purpose of discussing their religion, it would be rather rude of me to disappoint them, don’t you think? As for me preaching to them, I don’t. I listen to what they have to say and offer my own views in response. I don’t really understand why you have such a problem with the way in which other people deal with uninvited callers – and I really have no idea why I’m bothering to explain my actions to you – good manners I expect - but I would remind you firstly that this is not about me, and secondly it is they who foist themselves upon society – and not the other way around. That’s an idea! Perhaps I should take more seriously your suggestion that I preach – and go knocking on their doors! No Brownie points from any masters in it for me, of course, but having Jewish friends whose eight year old daughter, when collecting for Lifeboats, was told by Jehovah’s Witnesses ‘Go away - you killed Jesus’, the responses I receive could make for a rather interesting study. :o)
