Whose Prayers Are Answered?
96 Answers
But many have prayed in vain for health, happiness, peace, and prosperity. In fact, some feel that God does not really listen to prayers. Yet, the Bible calls him the “Hearer of prayer.”—Psalm 65:2.

So only, faithful servants of Jehovah can be sure that he will help them “for the sake of his name.” The record proving that such prayers have been answered gives God’s people today confidence that he hears their prayers. (Psalm 91:14, 15) - funny that I can find this on a Yahoo answers.

True. And it is good that it is. But who is it that is doing all the bad things in the world today. Certainly not God’s True Worshippers. When Jesus was on the earth, he told his followers that the “Ruler of this World” had no hold on him or his true followers. Who is that ruler? Paul identifies him in 2 Corinthians 4 v 4 as Satan, the God of this system of things. So who is the cruel god? Satan the Devil. He is the one causing all the bad things that go on in this world today. Not the Almighty God of the Bible, Jehovah.

Good to see you have not lost your sense of humour!!
Copy & Paste. You not guilty then? I remember some time ago you admitted to C&P. Conveniently forgotten I see.
For your information I did not copy & paste from Yahoo. I do not use Yahoo answers. The fact remains God’s Word does not lie so when I post quotes etc it does not matter who or where it comes from, it remains the same, truth. Although it seems, you prefer to listen to lies!

For Gods sake goodlife - what you write is crap...
This Hezekiah honkie - he ends up as a prisoner in Babylon didnt he?
I doubt if he prayed for that
althought I dont doubt he ofter prayed AT babylon
This Hezekiah is the one who has recently turned up in an Cuneiform account, along with the name of the Assyrian Kings Eunuch ?
Doesnt do much for the power of prayer - altho I agree they do get out in the end, thanks to Cyrus the Great not a well known agent of God.

True, the Bible would comes under assault from many quarters. The scientist says it is not scientific, the atheist says it is contradictory, the modernist clergy say it is legend, the fundamentalists make it appear ridiculous and void, and the people generally dismiss it as impractical for guidance in this hardheaded, realistic, yes it is a wicked old world.
and hot out of the cuneiform tablet baking ovens.....

goodlife doesn't seem to realise that anything can be written in a work of fiction without it actually being true.
The Bible seeks to convince the naive of the existence of God. The authors dreamed up the most fanciful of tales to get their attention.
It worked for goodlife but not for anyone with a functioning brain.

Millions of Jehovah’s Witnesses around the world,a letter was received at the Toronto, Canada, branch office of the Watch Tower Society: “For all my adult life I have been a ‘sincere’ atheist, believing firmly in an evolution supported by all my private studies of chemistry, physics, . . . etc.
Have you thoroughly investigated whether the theory of evolution has a real foundation in fact?
Because many atheists, however, view science through the lens of materialism—a philosophy that assumes purely material causes for the origin of life. “We have a prior commitment . . . to materialism,” wrote evolutionist Richard C. Lewontin. “That materialism is absolute, for we cannot allow a Divine Foot in the door.” Hence, materialists embrace the only alternative they have—evolution, you poor lot.

@Society "Only people who believe in God, or some other deity could attest to their prayers being answered or not."
Well, no I do not think that accurate. If intercessory prayers are indeed heard and answered by a deity, that is an effect that can be measured. Indeed, several studies have looked into this, and all have failed to show any positive correlation.
@ill-billym "Let us imagine what this world would be like if there wasn't actually a God, and he definitely wasn't answering any prayers at all. Just imagine how different that world would be compared to the one we live in today."
We do not have to imagine - that's precisely the world we live in today. If there were actually a god, one that answered prayers, that is something that would be immediately evident. Such a power would be materially manifest, would leave evidence, of which there is, erm, none. Your faith leads you to believe in such a god, in the power of prayer, and if that works for you, that is perfectly fine, but what you cannot assert is that such a world-view is the objective, material truth.
