Proof Of Heaven?

Not a question, just a link to an article.

You may have heard of this book and this guy - Eben Alexander. Wrote a book called "proof of heaven" which became a bestseller in the US and is apparently being made a film. Caught the public imagination because of the scientific authority imparted to the book by the fact that the author was a "famed neurosurgeon", and, according to him, he was by his own diagnosis "brain dead" through acute bacterial meningitis resulting in a coma.

Some of the details and story sounded odd to me at the time, so I was interested in reading the following article in the Esquire. It was the first paragraph of the story in particular I found particularly stomach -churning, him appearing on Fox News immediately following news of the Newtown Massacre, responding confidently to a tearful question from the interviewer about the experience of the kids killed.

Less a Prophet, more a Profit, I think.

How is it being dogmatic to ask you to recognise that unsupported verbal declarations should not be considered proof? How is it being dogmatic asking to explain, in your own words, what your cut and paste screed about "the wisdom of wolves" pertains to the previous discussion, heaven, hell, proof etc etc?

Ermm, no, it isn't. Please provide evidence to support your unfounded and unsubstantiated assertions.

-What "last remaining reactor"? How is it going to "go"? Why are we all going to be "goners" in consequence? Sorry, but that just seems like more paranoid ramblings, it appears.

-Excellent political analysis, with just one or two slight problems - no substantiation, no independant reference, no reference to reality and international diplomacy at all, as far as I can see. Oh, and in case it passed you by, I was being sarcastic when I described your opinion as excellent political analysis- I actually meant execrable.

Once again - how do your ramblings about nuclear apocalypse and profound political analysis of international diplomacy constructively add to the discussion about Eben Alexander and his book, "Proof of Heaven"?

Gina, if you didn’t believe the nonsense that people like Billy Graham spout, you wouldn’t be praying for souls or for anyone’s salvation. The idea that you will meet your loved ones again after death is quite lovely, and if it gives you comfort there’s nothing wrong in believing that, but there’s plenty wrong in believing that people need salvation or that their souls are in peril. I advise you to stop listening to other people – they know no more than you do – any of them! They’re messing with your mind.

As for war, the greatest current threat to this planet – the turmoil in the Middle East - emanates principally from your God!

Gina, it may have escaped your notice, but water is used in the nuclear power industry as a cheap and effective radiation shield such as in spent fuel cooling ponds. The sea around japan is full of it, water that is.
