...show displeasure at the way things are going down here. Am I right in thinking in this case that this is just a weather event, nothing more?

well you said it sandy - you would have to be insane to believe that lightning strikes are just god being in a mood, rather than simply and effect of bad weather - and even more insane to expect anyone else to believe it too ...

emmie - well if the judge is religious then he will have to believe me! - there is simply too much 'evidence' apparently, and it'd be way too hard for him to explain it away - result!
What did the dinosaurs do to upset god?
Question Author
It was his plan to people the earth with humans. He had nothing against the dinosaurs but they had to go to make room for us.
So why did he make the dinosaurs in the first place?
Question Author
After he had made them he saw that they were such that they would never develop the brain necessary to laud him to the heavens. He wiped the slate clean and started afresh.
Sandy, no brain is required to do that.....
We all make mistakes...
Question Author
On the other hand, they might have had brain enough to conclude there was no God. And the great comet was condign punishment for their arrogance.
I certainly agree with your first sentence ;-)
Are you sayng that the 'great comet' was a ghastly accident and when he tried to repeat his magnificent creation he made humans by mistake?
Question Author
He works in mysterious ways his wonders to perform. Who are we to question his motives? But when you think on it, the great comet was thunderbolt writ large. He doesn't make mistakes, we can be sure of that.
So if he didn't make a mistake in creating dinosaurs why did he wipe them out?
Question Author
Beats me. I'm only a poor layman. I'm sure there'll be better qualified people along later to answer that question. I'll watch the thread with interest to see what the explanation is.
When exactly did he create the dinosaurs by the way? He seemed to have had a pretty full agenda.
Question Author
On the 4th Day. It's all there in Genesis
No it isn't, it doesn't mention month or year.
so his sole purpose for creating humans, and earth for us to live on, was so we could 'laud him to the heavens'?

basically to praise him and give a massive ego boost?

Mmm... well ... its as good a reason as any i suppose ...

oh but why bother creating any other living thing then? if its food, why not just provide us with other means to eat?
why bother with a food chain at all if 99.9999999999% of it is useless to gods sole 'purpose' of being lauded by everyone?
He works in mysterious ways his wonders to perform. Who are we to question his motives? But when you think on it, the great comet was thunderbolt writ large. He doesn't make mistakes, we can be sure of that.

Wonders? Funny word for mayhem, destruction and suffering of the innocents. Gervais has it about right.

Question Author
Surely it's a sign of his magnanimity and all encompassing love for his creation that he would let himself be traduced in order that his gift of free will continues. I'll not be watching that link. It's likely blasphemous.
