...it still is important to some of the faithful. What are you giving up for Lent?

Foregoing fruitcake might be the first faltering step towards faith. Well done, Mib.

sandy; //I'd say that Lent is now a pale shadow of what it once was and nowhere near as austere as Ramadan.// That's something of an understatement, I always thought Muslims only gave up food between dawn and dusk which would not be (for me) a major difficulty, but I discovered last summer that they do not drink water or anything else either, and in the heat of June/July that's tough! eg. think of Pakistan test-cricketers!
There are many varieties of Mibs' fruitcake, and all contain nuts. ;o)
i am giving up on giving up, pointless pursuit
//Doubt it. If he gives up fruitcake, who's going to mentor him? ;o)//

Good question ? ? ?

I'm too weak willed to give anything up for Lent, but wanted to do something. So instead of giving something up (which most people do for themselves, which is not really the point of Lent abstinence at all) I've joined the 40 acts group, which focuses more on doing something positive every day in Lent - sometimes for yourself and sometime for others. I get an email every morning giving that days task, and so far, I'm quite enjoying it!
definitely not to bait the Trolls

it is unkind and they have their own life ( so says the Ed who is a SAINT )
