It is feasible that aliens exist somewhere in outer space but the incredible distances that would be involved for them to get here, or for us to go and see them, makes their positive discovery to be impossible.
I used to read a lot of Science Fiction when I was younger and have just finished re-reading the "Foundation" series by Asimov, for about the 5th time. In order for his stories to be even remotely believable, he had to invent a form of space travel called a Hyper Jump. But this is completely beyond what science can provide us with today and there is no evidence to suggest that it will ever be possible in the future, unless the basic laws of Physics are incorrect, and/or Einstein was wrong.
The series makes marvelous reading but it is fiction, not fact. We must be careful not to confuse the two.

'Faster than light' travel is not precluded by relativity.

I suspect any beings that achieved it would be quite hungry. For that reason alone, if any aliens ever arrived here on Earth I imagine we'd know about it . . . not that they wouldn't be equally as capable of keeping it a secret. ;o)

Mikey, no I was referring to aliens, it is a statistical certainty that they exist and yes you are correct we will never have any contact.
Even if FTL travel or comms are possible, even if we enter the realm of Sci Fi, it is still not feasable, Warp 10 is far far far far far to slow, even at warp 10000 we could not have a conversation with someone even at the closest known star. That is to the garden gate in galactic terms that is why I am certain.

Naomi, yes it is, do the sums and you'll see. Did you read what I said? Even at warp 10000 communication is not feasable with even the the closest neighbour if they where there.
Tell you what tell me any scenario where humans could communicate with aliens, I'm not talking about physically,I'm not even talking about within the current laws of physics. Ok you have warp 10000 as a ceiling, try and describe to me how we'd communicate with any of the aliens in our galaxy.

In his last days, my Dad talked to his dead sisters Alice and Gladys. He asked them where Hilda was. She's still alive. He had an argument with his sister Gerry, shouting, "I'm not coming yet!" He blew kisses at his mother and father.
Two days later he whispered my mother's name and tried to cuddle somebody on the bed beside him, getting frustrated when he couldn't touch her.
In his life previously, he never believed in an afterlife or ghosts because he had no experiences to change his opinion. He didn't know that he was seeing dead people. His father died before I was born.
I've had experiences that I can't explain myself and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

"TTT, I repeat, you limit the potential of scientific progress to man’s current knowledge – in my opinion a big mistake. " - no I don't limit it, read what I said, even if we learn to travel at 10000 times the speed of light, we still will not ever communicate with aliens. Describe to me how you think it may ever be feasable? some ideas? any amount of sci fi is ok.
