Who Wrote The Gospels ?

My granddaughter goes to a C of E school and amongst her RE homework were two questions which she apparently got wrong, despite the fact she had asked her Sunday School teacher.

1. What is meant by ' The Gospel Truth '.
2. Who wrote the 4 Gospels ?

I know the answers but I don't ever interfere and in any case I'm not sure what the school is looking for.
What do you think ?

Modeller, I’m familiar with the theories - but your reference to the ‘Johaness Society’ threw me. It sounds like some sort of exclusive club set up especially for the purpose – and I wondered why I’d never heard of it.

Applying mib's razor to the question of what the desired answer to any question regarding authorship of any particular individual or groups preferred version of their sacred text or any portion thereof might be, the only logical choice would be, "It was God what wrote the whole shebang." . . . not that coming to the equally astute conclusion that it was all just as likely the work of the devil is any less valid.

If one asks is the Gospel true - and you as GL quote a bit of the Gospel - such as 'it is all true' - - I think an observer may wonder if you have gained your point.

misread - again. Someone was insistently asking who the johaness company was, that were credited with writing John's Gospel

The ' four' must mean Matthew, Mark Luke and John...they were written by the four apostles themselves...
Later, after Jesus' death, Paul was given the privilege of writing 14 other Bible books...
The ' gospel truth' is really the WHOLE truth as found in the WHOLE BIBLE...
BECAUSE the Old Testament leads into the New Testement [ or christian/Greek scriptures] Daniel 2:44 leads into Matthew 24;14.
