If JC was the Son of God and a part of the Holy Trinity then he should have been OMNISCIENT but according to the bible he never exhibited any knowledge beyond what one would expect from a carpenter's son. Not even a word about Genesis, nor Jewish history, things he should have been an expert in.

In fact his impact on Judea was so slight , he was not mentioned by a single prominent official nor any contemporary historian until Mark, who didn't know him, more than 30 years later .

Ecce Homo - Behold the Man for if he existed that is what he was , a man with all the frailties that come with that.
From what we are told, a messiah had been expected. there were several "candidates" who needed to be born in the right time & place etc etc

History is written by the winners, innit?
just because he didn't "exhibit knowledge" doesn't mean he didn't have any. He wasn't a Jewish history lecturer. Are the posts you've put on AB a complete record of all your knowledge?
There is no trinity...because this false teaching implies equality...of three identities. The holy spirit [ Almighty God Jehovah's POWER ] IS NOT AN IDENTITY...it cannot be spoken to, no more than electricity...
And Jesus said he is NOT equal. Philippians 2:6
And Jesus prayed to his father,,,again implying subservience.
And finally when the Kingdom is fully established...
(1 Corinthians 15:24) Next, the end, when he hands over the Kingdom to his God and Father, when he has brought to nothing all government and all authority and power.
HIS GOD...again, subservient.
Jesus was probably NOT given all the information of his former existence, to give him time, as a man, to understand what situation he was born into...after all, he did not beging his ministry until he was ' about 30' and AFTER he was baptised...which is when he was given full knowledge...

I feel it was a lost opportunity by a God to get his messages across . Why wait until JC was 30 years of age and then restrict the ministry to 3 years .
He was supposedly ' the son of a God ' and could have been given Omniscience at any time from the second he was conceived.

His presence on earth was a non event at the time and Mark 30+ years later , didn't even describe any resurrection events . They were tacked on to make it more of a story by anonymous writers decades later still.
Naughty naughty modeller - stop being so coy
If you know auncient aramaic - then you know the answer to this....

The dual nature of Christ is such that part 1 was human and part 2 ( post resurrection ) was divine.

// he was not mentioned by a single prominent official //

that is because we dont have any record of any prominent official - OK which one ? - didnt they take 2000 y to find the so called Pilate stone ?
The nearest we get is the letter to the emperor from pliny saying what do I do with the christians ?

there are no extant records of any census from any part of the Empire
but it is clear they were taken....

and hey one time didnt he go in and teach the teachers - and the thingeys wondered etc.
// and Mark 30+ years later , didn't even describe any resurrection events .//

sorry inconsistent pleading - last week Mark didnt exist and there were three of them !

this week we have Mark DOES exist and his account ( fairy tales last week ) is now to be relied on ....

which theological college did you go to ?
You can not know how ignorant he was or wasn't. Since he is the figurehead of a major religion now surely it doesn't matter who did or do not mention him or why they might suddenly realize they needed to mention him ages later. Aim achieved ?
Perhaps the Jewish magician realised nobody likes a smartrse.
Wonder if anyone will be discussing you in 2000 year's time modeller?

Peter The term pedantic comes to mind. We don't know who the writers of the Gospels were . They were their adopted names , as well you know. We know when roughly their writings started to appear during the 100 years following the death of JC. The content of their writings , could be suspect but the writings themselves did exist in some form and that is what we have to use . However it's not only the bible that can be be termed ' fairy stories ' Very little history , even today , is accurate , the same event can be interpreted in different ways. The bible may be largely mythological but linked to actual events and continues to shape our present lives .

O.G (....... it doesn't matter ........)
But it does matter because it is used to justify our actions for good or bad !

maggie It's only myths that evolve and have longevity.
modeller; I wonder why it bothers you so much, and for that matter, why you spend so much time and energy talking about Jesus and God?
Question Author
Khandro Why do you use the term ' bothers ' ? As a scientist and teacher I am ' interested ' in everything that is unknown. or worthy of investigation.

I find , self delusion in otherwise sane individuals , of interest, especially when those same individuals are blind to the repeated failure of their delusion.
Religion is of course the prime example . Billions of prayers have been offered up for millennia and the only ones that are apparently answered are those that can happen without prayer anyway.

What we know is normally impossible , e.g natural regrowing of an organ or limb , is still impossible despite billions of prayers or the intervention of popes , clerics or any other believer.

The bottom line is , believers want and need the crutch of religion and if it gives them comfort, in principle that does no harm. Unfortunately millions
continue to suffer for their delusion.

Am I concerned ? Yes!
Am I interested in illogical beliefs that cause so much suffering in the world ? Yes !
Am I surprised that you as a Buddhist should see my concern in a negative way ? Yes

//according to the bible he never exhibited any knowledge beyond what one would expect from a carpenter's son. //

I disagree. I don't for one moment think he was who he's claimed to be, but according to the bible (which for obvious reasons we'd be pretty silly to take entirely seriously), he appears to have been well acquainted with Jewish law - and to have had some fairly radical ideas. I really don't understand the reasoning behind this question at all.
Naomi; I agree with you (it can happen :-) ) Jesus was not only acquainted with Jewish law, he was well acquainted with the Buddhist canon, from which Christianity stems.
I though buddhists were pacifists?
Question Author
Naomi Jesus had no more knowledge than any other Jewish boy . He believed what was in the bible ! Had he been the son of God he would have
known that was garbage.

And let's not forget . . . He was obviously a theist as well. :o/
