Please someone else start the list as I'm a bit stuck to be honest.

Ratter, posts on the negative effects of Atheism seem to be a bit thin on the ground around here so I thought I'd google to see if I could find some. However, my quest was halted by this piece entitled 'Common Side Effects of Atheism'. It won't surprise you but it's something for all those people who think Atheists are missing out to think about....

Jim, are we to believe that atheism is to be lumped in with murdering, child abuse, war crimes and so on by the entity that divides the queue of wandering souls?
There's surely a third option, somewhere between heaven and hell for those who had things to be getting on with in life while others were bobbing up and down or bending the knee to their imagined supreme being and otherwise wasting limited time.
An interdimensional Dundee, maybe.

tambourine - //Dont throw bricks at me for my analogy but calling yourself an athiest is slamming the door.//
Not at all.
If, as I believe, there is nothing after death, then I won't know anway, and if there is a God, as described by the Christian faith, then having been as good a person as I can, I expect him to accept my repentence for the rest, and allow me to enter his kingdom of heaven.
I can't see any problem with 'doors' there.

Tambo, I would love to think there is some kind of God, but not the one Christians currently believe. I am an Atheist simply because religion makes absolutely no sense to me at all!
Why would you think we are so closed minded, we just need something to suggest that a God actually exists, even if the evidence is a bit sketchy it would be worth thinking about, but when there is absolutely no evidence at all, it beggars belief that any intelligent being would believe their is one. I dont mean to sound insulting but why??

Lol, Mikey, and you think you had it bad!! I had Sunday school in the morning, then the morning service, I had a Sunday afternoon service and an evening service, then junior band practice on a Tuesday evening and senior band practice on a Wednesday evening and Bible classes on a Thursday evening, ok, so I volunteered for Bible classes because it meant I could meet up with my girlfriend who also volunteered. All of my family were a very big part of the local Salvation Army, in fact every member of the Salvation Army was a family member and most of us played in the band, I played the cornet. The Bible classes are what turned me to being an Atheist!!

Statements like that give Atheism a bad name. //
Your opinion.
Who cares if atheism has a 'bad name'? I am certainly not bothered.

tamborine //Some living ppl have experienced death (Obe). Some have seen religious apparitions, some have unexplained healings etc etc that they credit to their gods. //
The mind does odd things when starved of fuel and oxygen such as during a near death experience. Some chemicals can have similar effects.
Epileptic seizures of the temporal lobes of the brain are well know to induce hyper-religious experiences.
Whatever the cause, the faithful will give credit to their god because they are primed to believe that.
