Aliens Are Out There - And They Look Like Us
76 Answers
So says leading evolutionary biologist Simon Conway Morris. If it transpires that he’s right, what impact will it have on the Abrahamic religions? Are the people of Earth really special, or have those who brought us ‘the word’, Jesus, Mohammed, and Charles Taze Russell included, somehow done the rounds to spread their respective messages to every other inhabited planet in the universe?

Goodlife /// Soundness of mind involves looking at things from Jehovah’s standpoint.///
That's illogical and implies everybody who doesn't follow Jehovah is incapable of demonstrating soundness of mind. That rules out virtually all the world's great thinkers and inventors, not to mention millions of 'ordinary' rational folk.

Zacs, //Like Venator, I think you've lost the plot.//
Do you? Perhaps that’s because neither of you have spotted ‘the plot’ here. I just don’t happen to think the inhabitants of planet earth are so special that a creator God would have made the sun, the moon, and the stars especially to enable its occupants to distinguish between the seasons, as many believe. In fact I don’t think a creator God would single them out from among the potentially millions of occupants of other planets at all. Just musing on a topic for conversation – that’s all.
Venator, //From whence comest thee, Naomi?//
London. :o)
Goodlife, //Soundness of mind involves looking at things from Jehovah’s standpoint.//
That doesn’t merit a considered response.

A common practice among certain immigrants is to send their newborn babies back to their relatives to be looked after so that the immigrant parents can continue to work and make money. A woman living in a foreign country gave birth to a lovely baby boy. About that time, she started to study the Bible and made fine spiritual progress. Friends and relatives began pressuring her and her husband to send the baby back home to the grandparents. However, through her study the wife in particular realized that as a parent, it was her God-given responsibility to bring up her child.
Ps. 127:3; - Look! Sons are an inheritance from Jehovah; The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Eph. 6:4 - And fathers, do not be irritating your children, but go on bringing them up in the discipline and admonition of Jehovah.
Should she follow the custom that to many seemed to be the reasonable course? Or should she follow what she was learning from the Bible and risk possible financial hardship as well as the scorn of some people?
The mother reasoned that it would be to the child's advantage if the child stayed with its parents. This illustrates that using the spirit of a sound mind does not mean just going by what we or others think or feel is reasonable or expedient.
Our imperfect mind and heart can be like a watch that is going either too fast or too slow. Being guided by it could bring us serious trouble. We need to calibrate our mind and heart by God’s reliable standards.
Isaiah 55 v 8 & 9 - “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
And your ways are not my ways,” declares Jehovah.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So my ways are higher than your ways
And my thoughts than your thoughts.

Yes this example draws primarily from spiritual blessings, with only brief mention of blessings.
But the spiritual blessings are what should make us want God’s new world.
It is because of these things that we should be willing to work, sacrifice, yes, and even die in order to gain life in God’s new world.
For these spiritual things are what the present world has never given us and never will.
In place of “loving-kindness” the present order is at heart cold, greedy, using one as long as one serves its purpose and then casting that one aside forgotten.
But in God’s new world these spiritual blessings will be evident earth wide and will combine in beautiful harmony to make life genuinely delightful for those whose hearts are right.
Something you will never experience, poor you naomi.
