Hi there
I had lunch today with my brother his wife and 3 children. It was great. After lunch my little nephew who is only 6 took me to one side and asked why I had a can of diet pepsi at lunch. I told him that I enjoyed it. His response to me was amazing he told me that everyone knew that diet pepsi was bad for me and I should know that !! Later when we went out for dinner I had another diet drink when we ordering but my sister in law said that her children were only having water at the meal. I asked her about it later and she says she does not allow her children fizzy drinks. I am wondering if she knows something I dont she is a GP.

Ask her!!!! And then let us know.
water will always be better for you..too much sugar and gas in fiz ! even diet stuff..artificial sweeteners still yucky !
Three out of four of my grandchildren never have any fizzy drinks, occasional squash(still), milk or water and the eldest has developed a liking for unsweetened tea.
Maybe it's about forming good eating & drinking habits. Don't get into "sodas", don't crave them. Appreciate H2O.
Too many sugars and sweetners and highly addictive.
Mine didn't have them until they were about 12 and very rarely now. I suspect the diet versions are even less healthy.
I drink at least one and a half litres of Pepsi Max a day. I enjoy the taste and love it even more when it is icy cold. I very much doubt that I could stop drinking it - even if I wanted.

However the artificial sweeteners in it have a bad reputation.

Enjoy your juice Gordie.
all my nephews are on water only - don't know if it makes a difference tho
Probably to their teeth.
Read below, should be enough to put you off.

The average pH of soft drinks, e.g. Coke, Pepsi is pH 3.4. This acidity is strong enough to dissolve teeth & bones! Our human body stops building bones at around the age of 30. After that, it'll be dissolving about8-18% of the bones each year through the urine, depending on the acidity of the food intake (acidity does not depend on the taste of the food, but on the ratio of potassium /calcium / magnesium / etc. to phosphorus).
♦To clean a toilet :
Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl. Let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.
Water is much better for you. Pixie is right about teeth, I have lost a couple of my molars at the back, they crumbled.

My Diabetic clinic nurse was lecturing me on my addiction but my GO (and my psychiatrist) said that it was okay.
Diet anything contains sweeteners which could be cancer-causing.
Look up each sweetener on the can and google it. Not nice and amazing they are still legal. Also drinking fizzy pop causes you to crave sugar - diet or not- and this can create a sweet tooth where you crave sugar in other foods. Drink water and the craving goes away. Water will benefit you and fizzy drinks won't- simple as that.
Look what it does to a coin. Then imagine that it is doing the same thing to your innards.
I never drink cola or Pepsi as I have a great imagination!
My grandson has to have some of his baby teeth removed. Primarily because his next set is coming in, but he also has a rotten one. Dentist told my daughter-in-law to give him only full fat milk, water, or very diluted juice. No fizzy drinks at all.
Look what hard water does to your taps. Imagine it doing the same thing to your innards. What you want is some nice acid fluid to dissolve the scale.

Everything in moderation.
I often carry a small bottle of tap water with me and have a couple in the car. Cost: nothing. Danger to health: minimal.

If you buy a meal in Wetherspoons or Brewers Fayre they provide soda water - even a pint - free!!! And often they will ask if you want slices of orange, lemon and lime as well as ice - all free.
Ridiculous but that's the system.
That isn't necessary, bhg. Stomach acid is stronger than coke.
She is absolutely right! Carbonated drinks with artificial sweeteners are poison. My daughter is a registrar consultant and views them as slow suicide. I knew that before she thought that way though.
"Appreciate H2O." I do - in a good scotch.
Bob on dt. Just put away my Christmas Penderyn Malt. Tap water was in the fridge from early doors to let the chlorine and fluoride bleed out. I'm surprised I can still type this .
