This is spooky...I was thinking the other day how the CofE were being quite sensible in avoiding making a big public statement on the refugee crisis, because it's such a hot button topic that whatever it said, would be pounced on.

And then the Pope says this:

O come on sp - a schism is usually a division between two christian churches. One that springs to mind as it is so recent is 1054 schism between Rome and Byzantium
and that was on the position of 'filioque' - and from the son
The eastern church didnt like the way the Holy ghost proceeded from the father and the son....
and whether homoousion or homoiousion was the way forward ( there is an extra 'i' in the second word ) - being the same or being like

and I dont think Donald Trump is a church within christendom
but you know anything is possible in America so he might be

Now should the Pope be intervening in the american election

but the silence of the proddy churches in euroope over the migrant issue I dont think is a great and good example

Many evangelical pastors and congregations here in the U.S. have endorsed Mr. Trump. Including Jerry Falwell, Jr. (yep, that Falwell) and Robert Jeffries, pastor of one of the largest Baptist churches in the U.S. (Dallas, TX, I think). This even after Trump quoted Scripture from "Two" Corinthians...

I'd agree with canary on this one - there is something of a pot / kettle interface in The Pope calling Mr Trump out on his 'Christianity'.

I don't take a lot of notice of what The Pope says - he does not live in the real world, and so his comments on it must necessarily be selective

American Hispanics would not vote for Trump anyway. I think that the Pope's comments will anger a lot of Americans and strengthen support for Trump.
