Ancient Alien Astronaughts

After reading Theland's thread below (who or what created the universe) and the debate that developed between Naomi and others regarding ancient aliens visiting Earth, I thought that it may deserve a thread of its own.
I read von Daniken's books as a teenager and later found out that much of what he wrote was fabricated. *BUT* there have been other authors who have had the same ideas without Danikens fancies.
Myself, I'm open minded about it all, but still a fascinating subject to discuss.

nasca lines are easy peasy. I can draw you a straight line along the ground of any length using just 3 sticks.

It's easy to draw a curved line. Just try to draw a straight line, and get it wrong. Sorted.

Also I think it's been easy to demonstrate that you can draw the lines at Nazca without needing guidance from above (literally or spiritually). Just needs a lot of planning, is all.

Because the people wanted them to be seen by their gods, I suppose. That would be true whether or not such gods physically existed, just like all other monuments to a god or gods that have ever been built.

alba, I remember a TV programme many years ago which debunked most of his theories but was still stuck on a group of stars worshipped by some primitive tribe. The stars were there, but not visible to the naked eye, and not known to astronomers until comparatively recently. Sorry, I don't recall any details at all.

I'm not sure what your point is Naomi. Obviously if gods *did* come from the sky, literally, then it would make sense to draw things that they would be able to see. But you only need to believe that gods are above you, in some sense, in order to be motivated to build monuments to them, or draw patterns they could see.

On its own, and given how good humans are at imagination usually, either explanation clearly works.

I thought nascar lines was wrong so goggled it and become convinced it was right after all. There were the pictures. I'd missed the bit that said "Showing results for Nazca Lines" at the top :-(

The nazca drawings are not as big as perhaps you think they are and I'm sure they could be reproduced without modern technology, in fact they have been;

If you study the forms, the curves are quite small component parts of much larger figures.
