Just wondering if anyone here has renounced or changed their religion, and why? What religion did you change from/to? Interested in other people's experiences.

I didn't 'formally' leave - I just stopped going.
After marriage (in church) went to different church in village where we were setting up home.
Having been told I was sitting in 'their' seat, I thought, well, so much for being a Christian and welcome - also thought, stuff you and left, never went back.
Why is everyone ganging up on Mikey?
I think its obvious enough what he meant?
I see the pedants are out in force tonight.
No one is ganging up on anyone nail It! Stop being a snowflake!
/// I am not sure how anyone becomes a "formal" Member of a Church in the first place ///

then

/// I formally left, in the same way as anyone else would.....I stopped going to church and celebrating Mass. ///
//No one is ganging up on anyone nail It! Stop being a snowflake//
Oh! OK. That's me told then :-(
Mine was a straightforward question, some might rip up their certificates etc.
As to changing religion, when I was being confirmed in 1964 there were also a few who were being 'Received from the Church of Rome into the Church of England'
They had not been at the confirmation classes with me and the others so I assume it was just a formality.
Nailit....its the usual suspects....they have nothing to add to this debate, but take every opportunity to disagree. with someone who does.
“Stop being a snowflake!”

What on earth is a snow flake and it’s meaning in this context?
Mamy...I am not sure I had any certs. for my First Holy Communion or my Confirmation. Perhaps Mum had them.

I look back on my childhood with a great deal of affection, and that includes my church activities.

But to continue to partake, without any central belief, would just be hypocritical.
probably getting mixed up with ur thread re: arctic conditions Jahulaye :-)

“probably getting mixed up with ur thread re: arctic conditions Jahulaye :-)”

Lol, I’m certainly intrigued by what a snowflake implies, I’m hoping it’s not x rated though,Islam what does it mean?
//Mikey becomes unsure, starts to insult people, as usual//
Nope, sorry. Just reread the whole thread and cant see an insult from Mikey. Unless your feelings are hurt by been called a pedant. Been called a pedant certainly wouldn't count as an insult in my book. More thick skinned than that myself but there you go.
I think Luke 15 / 7 is appropriate here

Lol, damn predictive text, that was meant to be ISLAY

Regarding the OP.

No, I haven't.
