If a referendum was held on whether or not to reintroduce the death penalty, how would you vote?
What moral basis would dictate your choice?

Two good choices baths

Lesley Moleseed was killed and Kiscko had A blood group and A bllod was found at the scene - and so was Lesley
and Jesus the defence should have picked this up ......

also Kiscko had no wiggly things - you know down THERE ! (azoospermia) where as there was on the body ....
So as the appeal judge said - it is impossible that the defendant could have done this act.

However Kiscko counsel insisted he plead guilty of manslaughter by reason of diminised responsibility -
the same counsel handled the appeal when Home Secretary

two girls testified that K had exposed himself to them ( um when he hadnt) [" do you think I am happy at what I did then?"] - and later said they had done it for 'fun'

I mean there were some very very odd featrues to this case
I looked at the murder of two young beautiful girls in Soham They were murdered by an Huntley and looking back on his trial it made me cry. Why should vermin like that live
Then you have Steve Wright you murdered five girls in Ipswich. Then we have Peter Sutcliff the Yorkshire Ripper. Perhaps somebody on the site who votes against hanging would like to come on here and say why one of these monsters should still be alive today and paid for by the taxpayer
Why should a person that's 100% Guilty of Murder be kept in a Warm Cell, 3 meals a Day, earn a small wage, have everything in some instances be allowed and be capably of doing it again and has been known to happen, I agree with the C,P,
I would always naturally have said "no". It's over the years I have gradually changed my mind because of people like that, gollob, Jon Venables, people who torture and kill babies and small children. We spend a fortune keeping them alive, so that we can call ourselves "civilised". But we are just sacrificing their future victims to make ourselves feel better. That isn't civilised to me. Cases would be extreme... and I don't agree the law should work by how sure you are of guilt. That's about the justice system, not the punishment. DNA can often show 99.99-100% accuracy now. That would be good enough in those cases.
I would vote yes for the same reasons as gollob, TWR and pixie. Murderers do not deserve a second chance and I don't wish to have to contribute to their upkeep for the rest of their useless lives.
gollob, when it comes to the thorny debate about capital punishment, I have to ask, just where do we draw the defining line of who should be executed and on what grounds? The pro capital punishment proponents ALWAYS quote the high profile cases (understandably). But ive spent time with quiet a few murderers who don't fit neatly into a box. One example was the con I mentioned earlier who killed his abusers. Would you have him executed? Another con I knew killed his girlfriends 'bit on the side'. He didn't mean to kill him, just warn him off. He was a young lad in his early 20's. Would you have a young jealous lad executed? BTW a young lad full of remorse?
pixie that is terrific until you are the 0.1%
TWR, with all respect, you don't know what prison life is like for lifers.
It really only does concern the high profile cases, nailit. Prolific serial killers. People with mental health problems should be treated differently in any case. I know they often aren't, but that's a separate problem.
And how about all the future victims, woof? Why are they less important? It isn't going to go on DNA alone anyway- there would be more evidence than just that.
//People with mental health problems should be treated differently//
And you don't think serial killers have mental health problems Pix?
Psychopathy is a recognised mental health condition.
Not always, nailit. To be criminally insane, you have to either not know what you were doing- or not know what you were doing was wrong. That's it. The definitions are different legally or medically.
To be honest I just don't know how I'd vote, a lot of the time I'm against the death penalty and then along comes a case and I'd be quite willing to spring the trap myself and get rid of the scum for good.I suppose if the evidence is strong enough (DNA etc) there's no point in keeping them in Jail, but over the years there have been some terrible miscarriages of justice and It's no good saying sorry we know he/she is innocent when they've been executed.
I was working in the Metal Health Nailit, I have been supporting Rapist, Flashers, Pedos, Murders so I think I qualify in Knowledge & how they are treated & the life style they have.
// or not know what you were doing was wrong.//
Isnt that *THE* definition of psychopathy? (a recognised mental health disorder. Both medicaly and legally)
Have you served time in prison then TWR with these people?
No... It's not caring, not not knowing.
Nailit, I was once told by a person that was put in this Hospital for Murder, " Do you think I want to leave this place"!!!!! & said with a smile on his face.
Never been In prison but worked in a place that these people were sent by the courts.
Pix, Theres people that I don't care about, in fact positively hate, but I don't want to kill them, never mind going on to become a serial killer.

TWR because you were 'once' told something doesn't make it true across the board does it?
