Why is it that when debating with/talking to bible believers, you can just KNOW what phrases that they are going to come out with. Its spooky, its almost as if they have been brainwashed and just repeating what other believers have told them!
Heres a few that regularly crop up here and in real life
1) But where do you get your morals from?
2) Prove God DOESNT exist
3) It takes faith to be an atheist
4) Atheism is a belief
5) Evolution is only a theory
6) Darwin recanted on his deathbed
7) You're taking it out of context
8) How did something come from nothing?
9) There are no atheists in fox holes/sinking ships
10) But that's Old Testament
11) Its your choice if you go to hell.
12) God didn't create hell for humans but for satan and his demons
That's just a few of the top of my head, I'm sure there are more. Please add them to the list.
///My motive for posting on here is to have a conversation//
No its not Theland. You do not engage in conversations
//and try to understand how atheists square their circles// again, no you don't. You preach instead!
// For example, the basis of morality, the origin of the universe, how abiogenesis works. I am simply curious//
Your not curious at all, you have preconcieved ideas and beliefs do you not?
If a response is deemed inadequate then the same question is bound to be proposed time and again. One doesn't ignore apparent flaws in a debating opponent's argument.
I think it is probably better to answer the points well than to mock their repeated occurance, as that suggests not having an answer.
Man can manipulate completely abstract symbols to an extent far beyond that possible in the animal world; it’s on this ability mathematics is based. I do not believe that animals will ever be able to do mathematics. . . . Man has an abstract moral sense which can realize perfectly general moral laws—he can realize, in other words, the essential difference between what is and what ought to be and it follows from that I think, . . . that man is a philosophical, a metaphysical and a Atheists animal. Proverbs 16:25.
Theland, if that was to me I have a life - and a very nice one. That said, I find it strange that you feel compelled to speak out on behalf of Jehovah's Witnesses - but then the religious do seem to have a penchant for supporting the religious regardless of flavour - even though under other circumstances they're far from being the best of friends. Very odd.
//Get a life. //
This ^ coming from someone who regularly says that atheists are rude to believers.
Whats that verse again about taking the log out of your own eye before removing the speck from anothers?
Well I am puzzled by the constant bitching about God, and just don't understand why you take the time and trouble to engage in a subject that you have no time for. As if I was to *** about stamp collecting or cooking.
Statement (4) is the perfect response to statement (2).
If atheists pretending that atheism is not a believe then it kills the "but you haven't looked everywhere" argument stone dead.
Think us Christians might have better things to do. My church tends to the sick, feeds the hungry, educates the poor and comforts the dying. What do you do you?
When anyone dares to question your beliefs Theland, you come out with this garbage about being hated, persecuted or whatever. Grow a pair for gawds sake.
