I was asked by Theland (before he went off in a hissy fit) what was my problem. (presumably with Christianity)
I don't have a problem despite what Theland may LIKE to think.
So Just so I don't highjack Canarys post, I will let you vent here Theland.

And in return I will ask just what is YOUR problem with people disagreeing with you and presenting facts that may disagree with you?

My rejection of Christianity is much the same as your rejection of Islam, Hinduism, Sihkism, Buddhism or any other religion. I don't understand your antagonism towards someone who rejects yet another belief system.
You don't believe in Osiris, Thor, Odin, Krishna, Allha, Hecate, Astarte, Baal, or millions of other divine beings and yet you are antagonistic towards my rejection of YOUR God?

Ah ok Theland!
That's that one sorted then.
End of thread folks. Thelands sorted it.
Nailit - Still friends I hope, and mutual respect.
I often enjoy your views on a range of subjects and hope we will continue to have dialogue.
Very tired now and off to bed.
Goodnight all.

Theland, you are insufferable, I have friends that are the same!
I love them non the less.
Cant say that mutual respect is in order tho! ….it isn't!
But friends? Yeah.
I have said many times, and I am happy to repeat it -

My main problem with Christianity, is Christians, and their constant undeserved sense of superiority, and the attitude that everyone else is missing out except them.

Theland is a virtual blueprint for them.
You may be right up to a point, Mr Hughes, but the old saying 'don't poke the bear' still applies today.
There's no need to be targetting and antagonising from the outset.
Andy, to use Theland as a blueprint for how you see all Christians is misguided in my view - I (for example) am not much like him at all.
douglas - // There's no need to be targetting and antagonising from the outset. //

As I see it, if you undertake to be a Christian, you also undertake to 'spread the Word' and that means soaking up any and all hostility and antagonism, usually with the patience reserved for dealing with eight-year-olds with personality disorders, which is the way Theland likes to deal with people like me.

I don't target him, he regularly and consistently targets himself with his endless posted video nonsense and his earnest pleading to be understood.
Heavens to Betsy, you still think it's all about you.

I give up.
Mamya - // Andy, to use Theland as a blueprint for how you see all Christians is misguided in my view - I (for example) am not much like him at all. //

To be fair to all Christians, I do not view Theland as typical, indeed the majority of Christians I mix with - and I attend Mass weekly, are thoroughly nice people, and we have no conflict at all.

On here though, people like Theland come and go, acting in the way he does, and I and others engage with them.

But that does not mean that I despise all Christians, far from it, but I do despise those who exhibit the superior attitudes and condescending rhetoric that insults me as an intelligent person with my own views on the subject.
douglas - // Heavens to Betsy, you still think it's all about you. //

Actually, I think it's all about Theland, which is really rather my point.
That wasn't clear from your initial comments, thanks for clarifying.

A fair point, and I an delighted to refine my position more clearly.
"I don't target him, he regularly and consistently targets himself with his endless posted video nonsense and his earnest pleading to be understood."

My comment, the one you addressed, was about the OP, not your quest to be head of misinterpretation.

And is in equal measure questioned about it.
Unfortunetly he takes umbrage (as do others) at been questioned about it.
I was about town today when a few street preachers were out spreading the word. I only wished to buy a few toilet rolls and a loaf. Instead I was told about the horrers of hell that awaited me for not believing in jesus.
How on earth can I make myself beleive in a being that I find non existant?
douglas - // My comment, the one you addressed, was about the OP, not your quest to be head of misinterpretation. //

Fine - if you don't want your posts to be mis-read by people other than the one to whom you are addressing your response, why not use quotes like I do - no room for misinterpretation there, by anyone.
I'm sure you'd manage, it's your signature move.

Over and out.

serious question Theland…
Just how can I escape eternal torture, burning, suffereing from your loving god if I cant find it in my heart to kiss his ass?
douglas - // I'm sure you'd manage, it's your signature move.

Over and out. //

Thanks for the compliment, but I can't claim credit - I took it up when I saw AOG doing it, and avoiding any confusion about whom he was addressing with his posts, so I have done the same for a long time now.
Theland, //Why continually post on something you neither support nor believe in? …. Just don't get it. //

//… a second after they take their last breath, all will be revealed.//

^That’s why. I trust you get it now.
Some posts quite amusing really.
Presumption of what I think, then lambast me for thinking it.
Very good.
And as always, "oh gawd", etc from the usual mockers, safe in a crowd, never putting their own position on the line.
The clacking of knitting needles would not be out of place here.
