You'd like to think, in 2019, that people had grown-up and realised what total rubbish religion is.

In 2013 an American had a torn placenta and prayed to Cardinal John Henry Newman to stop the bleeding - and lo and behold, the bleeding stopped.

That's what people in the real world with a grasp of reality call a coincidence.

I wish religionists would sometimes consider what they think objectively. If they did you'd hope they'd have an epiphany and realise they're being ridiculous.

I genuinely believe that people who believe in god and heaven and so on have a form of mental illness. If I swore blind in the existence of leprachauns, people would quite rightly question my sanity....and yet even though there's as much proof in the existence of god (i.e, NONE), were meant to take their nuttery seriously and respect it.

Madness.

Naomi- You and some others demand answers.
To what? And why?
The God you don't believe in is hated by you and co.
So what is this?
In the past I have posted evidence that satisfies me, but of course, you, implicitly know better than any apologist scholar. Eg. The prophecies concerning Israel.
Not harsh imo ummmm, if that's ok with you (not really bothered if it's not though).
SK 23:36 ..
That's fine by me. I don't know why you'd think it wouldn't be.
How can I hate that which does not exist ?
Jolly good ummm, that's fine with both of us then. Now go and interfere in somebody else's post, you know that thing that you are really good at ...
Don't mean to point out the obvious but this isn't your post, hereIam, so I will feel free to post on it as I wish.

"In the past I have posted evidence that satisfies me, but of course,....."
Shouldn't evidence (proof) satisfy everybody?
Of course ummm you always do, why change the habit of a lifetime ?
I have to go now, but if you still want to carry on I'll be back later.
Political manifestos, and party histories are evidence for Brexit / Remain etc, and not everybody is satisfied.
Yes?
Belief in God, or not, is a personal choice based on the acceptance or rejection of the evidence.
The evidence for God convinces me, the same evidence is rejected by others.
Agreed?
Theland, are you saying that the evidence that convinces you God is real is similar to what was written on the side of a bus?
No evidence to offer then, Theland.
It's not often I come onto this section because I know there will always be disagreements, but I do think that Deskdiaty saying ;
I genuinely believe that people who believe in God and heaven and so on have a form of mental illness is a very unfair thing to say. Haven't you cottoned on yet that religion is probably the main reason for the fighting and killings that go on around the world? People who believe, people who don't. Worshippers of this religion, worshippers of another religion. Why do those of you who do believe keep trying to change the opinions of those who don't and visa versa? People knock on my door trying to preach to me about their religion, why? I don't go knocking on their door to tell them they've got it wrong. My Mum was a firm believer and she certainly didn't have a mental illness. Her faith brought her comfort and what's wrong with that? I have my own opinions on religion and don't find the need to share them. However, I do believe in the words that John Lennon wrote.

Imagine there are no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too

Deskdiary, apologies for getting your name wrong.
Barsel; //Haven't you cottoned on yet that religion is probably the main reason for the fighting and killings that go on around the world? //
In the 20th century Britain was involved in WW1, WW2, the Korean war, Iraq & the Falklands war - have I missed any?

Please explain the religious dimensions of these conflicts
No religion under Stalin, Mao Tse Tung or Pol Pot, all great atheist rulers, and these alone were responsible for the nurder of millions upon millions of their own people.
So religion causes trouble does it?
Can anybody explain how the total absence of any religion was so toxic?
John Lennon was a complete selfish violent idiot, and Liverpool wasted a good airport naming it after this egomaniac.
Theland, //Stalin, Mao Tse Tung or Pol Pot//

Fake argument. Atheism wasn't their impetus.
Religion is said to be the "main" cause, not the only one.
Religion is clearly a mental condition (it is not a physical one), but "illness" just depends how detrimental it is to your life, so the majority of religious people are not mentally "ill", but some are- which may or may not be down to religion itself. But probably isn't.
