Theland,
You have often been accused of NOT answering questions put to you. Equally you have responded that you HAVE, either directly or by a link, (usually a youtube link).

Given your recent posts on other threads re genders: I would like to give you the chance to clear up any misunderstandings regarding your views on homosexuality without any animosity from other ABers. (Other ABers take note, this is for Theland only...its not an attack on him or his beliefs)

There are 2 genders? Its Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve right?
The Old Testament orders the death of homosexuals. St Paul in the New Testament says that homosexuals are worthy of death. Revelations says that homosexuals will burn for eternity.
You have an homosexual child...how does this sit with your beliefs as an evangelical Christian?

Take this question as you will but I ask it out of genuine curiosity given your (published) beliefs about gender.
Thanks.

Ummmm - Then you know how much support they need from a hostile world.
God bless you and your son, Ummmm.
He hasn't experienced hostility as of yet. My mother, a Born Again Christian, is one of his best friends.

I have a very large family and not one person within it have said anything negative about or towards him.

He does get slated for his left wing views though :-)
I like you Ummmm.
God bless you.
While I'm happy for your acceptance of your son and his happiness with his life and partner, what would have been your answer if he had been transexual? If he had come to you and rather than telling you that he was gay, tells you he identifies as female and wanted gender realignment surgery? Would you have been so accepting? I like to think that you would have, but I don't know.
I had hoped that someone would pick up on the point I made at 23:19 Wed.
I think you are absolutely right at 23:19, naomi, but I think humans are more complex with their needs and don't always just look for immediate physical gratification. I wouldn't try to compare the two.
Mozz, you are trying to conflate two opposite approaches there.
Short of harming other people, I would accept my children no matter what (and even then, tbh). But acceptance or tolerance isn't about agreement necessarily.
My reason for asking the question Pix, was twofold. Firstly, we've established homosexuality as a mortal sin in the bible (Theland quoted the verse previously). I wondered whether Theland's believed that this included transexuality, or given that he believes all things trans to be psychological, he believes the correct therapy could "cure" it. The second part is how much has TL's acceptance of homosexuality come from his son, and if that would stretch to a condition TL believes is basically a form of mental illness. The fact TL puts his son before his religious belief is a great credit to him in my eyes.

I realise these are personal questions, and fully accept if TL doesn't wish to comment upon them, I'm just curious.
Theland - // He is a lovely lad, so proud of him and as macho as the come as is his partner nothing camp about either of them.
Neither would be seen dead in a Pride march. //

You must be grateful for small mercies.

Your God has gone against his own doctrine and given you a gay son, but at least he's not camp, so you can pretend that he is straight if and when you need to, which is probably most of the time.

Of course, plenty of gay men are not camp, and plenty of camp men are not gay, but don't let your relief at avoiding a stereotype stop you thanking your God for it.
Pixie, I think you are absolutely right at 23:19, naomi, but I think humans are more complex with their needs and don't always just look for immediate physical gratification. //

I agree.

//I wouldn't try to compare the two. //

Neither would I - but the homosexual community does ... and that's the point I'm making.
Naomi - We'd 23:19 - Quite a mystery.
My son initially struggled with his sexuality, was a churchgoer, rang in local radio stations to discuss it, didn't like his own feelings, and was close to a breakdown.
I remember putting my arms around him and hugging and kissing him and telling him how much he was loved by us all.
He has always hated the blatant camp style of the likes of gay clubs and Pride marches, and found happiness with his partner, together now for some years.
Both are quite macho, and absolutely loving and loyal to each other.
That is my experience and partial answer to your question.
Andy - What is your problem?
Your posts are always accusatory and implied allegations.
What is your point? Motive?
Andy - You always ask about, "my God."
What about your God?
Who or what do you worship?
Yourself? Science? Ignorance? What?
Don't say nothing, that would make you unique, which you are definitely not.
Nailit - Check out video, "Conference Dr Jason Lisle day 1."
Quite long but a scientist and very interesting.
First ten minutes should get you thinking about Creation and information theory.
Theland to AH, //Who or what do you worship?
Yourself? Science? Ignorance? What?
Don't say nothing, that would make you unique, which you are definitely not. //

You have a very strange concept of worship, Theland. Why do you think other people 'must' worship 'something'? That's nonsense.
Theland - // Andy - What is your problem? //

A burst of gout today, very painful, and a hiatus hernia - ongoing, but nothing serious.

// Your posts are always accusatory and implied allegations. //

If I 'accuse' you it's because of your constantly espoused and superior Christian viewpoint being at odds with your xenophobia, and frequently un-Christian sentiments which you post. Added to your inability to respond to simple points made by just about anyone at all, apart from telling people to 'read the Bible - all answers are there'.

// What is your point? //

Please see the above.

// Motive? //

A little honesty from you would not go amiss.
Theland - // Andy - You always ask about, "my God."
What about your God? //

I don't have one.

// Who or what do you worship?
Yourself? Science? Ignorance? What? //

I don't worship anyone or anything, I am secure enough to make my way in the world without the need for daily flagellation for not meeting the standards of a God who clearly does not care for his creations.
// Don't say nothing … // that would make you unique, which you are definitely not. //

Please don't try and dictate how I answer, that is my prerogative, and I do not worship anything, so 'nothing is my response.

// … that would make you unique, which you are definitely not. //

Of course I am! Everyone is.

Andy - So sorry for your pain. Gout and HH sounds terrible.
You certainly have my sympathy.

I answer to your post, I do not talk down to anybody.
You have misquoted me there.
Or as G.W. Bush would say, "Misunderstanderated."

Also, read your own posts and put yourself in my shoes, well, don't really, not with gout!
But the tone of your posts to me is often "accusatablemently."

Can't we tone it down a bit and just exchange ideas and opinions?
Andy, everybody has a "god" that is whatever you worship and have faith in.
Atheism is indeed a faith.
I don't have enough faith to be an atheist.
Theland - // Andy - So sorry for your pain. Gout and HH sounds terrible.

Thank you - appreciated.
Theland - // Andy, everybody has a "god" that is whatever you worship and have faith in. //

I am unsure why you believe that - plenty of people, and I am one of them, do not worship any kind of 'god' of any kind.

// Atheism is indeed a faith. //

Apparently not -

atheism
/ˈeɪθɪɪz(ə)m/
noun
noun: atheism
disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods.

// I don't have enough faith to be an atheist. //

Since atheism is the absence of faith, I would suggest that your last point does not actually make sense.
