Not sure if this is the right section of answerbank but I watched this really captivating show on Netflix today called “Bob Lazar – Area 51 and The Flying Saucers”.

Would defo recommend if you are into alien conspiracy stuff. I’ve heard an interview with Bob Lazar before on the Joe Rogan podcast and was fascinated by the dude.

I’ll give a brief background. Bob was a physicist who claims to have worked on alien tech at Area 51 during the 80’s. He was a whisleblower and has basically had his life ruined since going public – so has almost everyone associated with him. During the documentary the FBI show up at his home and start going through his stuff. I found some of his claims compelling, although his whole past including education records have been deleted.

Does anyone have any thoughts about Area 51 or governments concealing information about alien contact?

Tim

Unless they are already here....

//we will never meet or communicate in any way.//

Sorry 3T, but you have no idea whether that is true or not. Other alien civilisations could have billions of years longer than humanity to forward their technology. There maybe advances we could only dream of.
You been watching Men In Black Tim?
It's a mistake to be absolutist about anything in science but it's extremely unlikely that aliens have ever visited Earth, and even more unlikely that we will ever be able to visit aliens (or intelligent alien life, at least). But I would dearly love to be wrong about this.
mozz: "Sorry 3T, but you have no idea whether that is true or not. Other alien civilisations could have billions of years longer than humanity to forward their technology. There maybe advances we could only dream of. " - No, they must be 2nd gen star dwellers like us, thus they have had a similar time to advance. Do you understand what that means?. I am certain we will never meet or communicate in any way, if you could comprehend the sheer space involved you would be too.
//it's extremely unlikely that aliens have ever visited Earth//

Why?

//I can hear Richard Dawkins chuckling in anticipation of that meeting.//

Without revisiting research I don’t actually know what Dawkins thinks of the possibly - if indeed he has ever commented - but Stephen Hawking certainly didn’t chuckle at the prospect. However, if TTT is absolutely certain that it's impossible, who is Hawking to argue?
And the aliens came from ?

Who created them?

Oh hang on, just saw lights in the sky.

Winged horses, shouting Ally Akbar.

Must be more immigrants.
Theland, it's rare that a subject other than something you're interested in is discussed here. Please don't turn it into a whodunit. We've done that.
//No, they must be 2nd gen star dwellers like us, thus they have had a similar time to advance.//

Why must they? They could be on planets which have existed long before Earth did.

// I am certain we will never meet or communicate in any way, if you could comprehend the sheer space involved you would be too//

Firstly, dont be so fecking condescending. I'm well aware of the vastness of space, that the starlight we see on Earth is thousands of years old, but neither of us know for sure what other races may be out there and what technology they may have.

And how many genders they might recognise ;-)
Naomi - don't be daft.
Pardon?
Naomi, I thought of Dawkins as proof of extraterrestrial life would go a long way to confirming his atheitsm.
Didn't realise it was the silly hour, sorry, will go and watch out for lights.
Bye.
Mozz, I've read his books - well most of them I think - but I can't recall him talking about this. (Actually, in some religions – Islam in particular - extraterrestrial life is considered a distinct possibility – but then Islamic scholars do go to extraordinary lengths to attempt to cover all eventualities.
*Raises hands and backs away*

I cede. Your knowledge far outstrips mine on this topic. I withdraw the comment :-D
That's a shame. No one knows so all ideas up for discussion - well at least they should be.
"Didn't realise it was the silly hour, sorry, will go and watch out for lights."

Would that be similar to the one that was said to have guided the Wise Men?
