I have searched in vain for atheist apologists who can present plausible theories of the origin of the universe.
So far, the ones I have found all presuppose a, "something," as a part of their definition of nothing.
Lawrence Krausse requires laws to make, "nothing," unstable.
Hawking required gravity.
An unnamed YouTube lecturer required that time was past eternal.
Can you direct me to any more?

Jim - I agree entirely. We should continue to push the boundaries of science, but be aware aware of pseudo science and hick theories that become accepted as fact, merely because
Question Author
somebody famous or with a reputation in one field espouses theories in another.

Jim - Good post. I am glad that you mention funding, add to that lack of promotion or even being sacked from a post for going against the status quo.
There are areas of science so simple to understand that lead to Deism, but who dare utter the words?
Speak and be damned.
It is easier for me to deny myself and stand in the approval of the many, but to be true to myself, I end up standing alone.
I have been told many times to question my faith, and I do.
I follow the route that leads to truth, and up to now my faith has never been shaken, but every new scientific revelation will either reinforce my beliefs or give me a problem to be investigated.
Some of the, "Oh Gawd," type posts are not only insulting, but say more about the posters than me.
An example - Naomi has often admonished me, but uses scholarship to back up her assertions, (in error in my opinion,) but addresses the issues.
That makes for the basis of a productive discussion, and quite often the beginning of a new road for me to negotiate.
Question Author
I wish the," Oh Gawd," posters would copy the more thoughtful before typing, because I doubt anybody is laughing, or recognising such posts as anything but moronic.
Ooops, wrong thread. Oh, I don't know tho' ;-)
Question Author
Canary - Right thread, we need to lighten up :-) Thanks.
There is no area of science that leads to Deism. It simply doesn't have anything to say on the question, one way or the other.
Question Author
Information theory maybe?
You know what I wish?
I wish theland would answer questions, instead of carrying on with something else instead x
Not information theory.

That deals with things like how much you can compress a music track or image or movie before you lose good reproduction.

Compression formats like MP3, M4P; JPG and suchlike make use of information theory to get a good balance between data compression and acceptable reproduction of the original image or noise.

It also deals with encoding rates; image resolutions and things like that.

No idea where you got the idea that information theory might be related to deism.
I don't look to apologists for answers. Those who know have nothing to apologise for, only evidence to support their claims. If knowledge is your pursuit then the place to begin is learning what knowledge is, where it is found, how it is acquired and validated.

Like the dog who sees the reflection of the bone in his mouth in the stream, those who insist they must know everything will most likely end up knowing hardly anything.

Pixie - what question? Thought I had answered you?
Remind me.
Quite an aggressive title imo!
They are all still on the thread, theland x no pressure... but responses help with conversation....
Atheist
Dictionary definition...
//a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods//

Ergo...
Asanta
A person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of Santa

Aelfist
A person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of elves.

Agnomeist
A person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of gnomes.

Afairyist
A person who disbelieves or lack belief in the existence of fairies.

The onus is on you!
NOT The unbelievers!

//If knowledge is your pursuit then the place to begin is learning what knowledge is, where it is found, how it is acquired and validated.//

And if you don’t know the humility to say you don’t know is your best friend.

‘Allo Mibs.

Pixie Sun 21:05 - it is reasonable to believe God is eternal, because, something, let's use the term God, has to be the first, Uncaused cause of everything.
Reason tells us this. If God came into being from somewhere else, then the somewhere else would be God.
Question Author
Naomi- If only Gallileo, Newton and Eistein had been satisfied saying, "We don't know," would they have had your admiration?
