oh I am and the story so far
Theland agrees that selection through fitness does exist. As Dawkings says 'you can see down a micrscope' referring to selection of bacteria with antibiotic resistance
we agree that different species exist ( by looking out the window and seeing brids of different colours)
we agree that looking at a dog ( now) and a cat ( now) and concluding no one has seen one change into another is true
and also if you are looking at divergent form ( dog,cat) then you have to look in the past ( = some years ago)

I think we also agree intelligent design is not in Genesis. I looked and couldnt find it

and also that God created for seven days and rested all the while cannot be true - because we see fossils that have an age. They werent there and then they were.

so really we have got quite a lot to agree on.

Many people will have already got their knowledge from education, experience, etc. YouTube links from random people are never going to convince people otherwise from what they have already learnt. People may be open-minded, but they are not daft.

There are YouTubes (& books) available by nutters - yes, but also on & by some of the greatest minds of the 20/21st century; Karl Jung, Oxford Union Lectures, the late Sir Roger Scruton, the list is endless, no need to stick with what you have "already learnt".

Theleand still hasn't addressed any of the explanations I made about how small changes accumulate into enough differences for the descendants of an organism to diverge into separate species.

I clearly demonstrated that just one change in each tens of thousands of matings can account for the genetic difference between humans and chimps.

Not a word of rebuttal from Theland just an entirely unsubstantiated assertion that it has to be the result of intelligent design.

Not a word arguing against the fact that natural selection culls the disadvantageous mutations and promotes the beneficial. Nothing to counter any of it.

He won't even acknowledge my post any more. I was correct when I named him as a coward who will not engage in discussion.

modern view is that platelets are the first step....
altho ....

the amino acid code for collagen - finished fibrous tissue is X-Y-Gly
and one of the collateral clotting factors ( C1Q ) soluble in blood also had this amino acid characteristic

the standard explanation is that there was gene duplication ( seen with haemoglobin ) and then divergent evolution

I am not sure if intelligent design has anything important to contribute ....

I base my beliefs on that which convinces me from what I choose to read, conversations I choose to have, and that which I experience from life. With respect, I'm not going to be under control of anyone who demands I read some particular book or watches some particular video just because they can't or won't back up their claims themselves. I've piles of books waiting to be read already.

Don't ask questions of religious posters in case you fall into the trap of the 'mob'.
Just let them keep posting their Jesus stuff but dont question it.
Religion is sacred, Personal beliefs are sacred as well (unless ur a muslim suicide bomber) just dont dare question personal beliefs that have no basis in reality.
The religious will take umbridge, and thats not PC!
